May I reciprocate your good wishes, lamba. Hope you have a good Festive break, and a healthy and happy New Year.
Can I wish all the Pompey fans a very Merry Christmas and hope that Santa brings them what they really want this year, with just 2 provisos; 1. That they are being realistic in their wishes and 2. That they have spent the whole year on the naughty step and hence a visit from Santa is unlikely
Merry Christmas Dear Pompey fans.....and SB3......Have just noticed he has not been on since our win against Everton. That smacks of bad sportsmanship....mind you......could it be because he is gobsmacked at Pompey's demise? or a Saints win..... Merry Christmas one and all
Troll all you like, Pie. I don't care. Our players are a ****ing disgrace. Frankly, there's only about three I'd actually be disappointed if they left tomorrow. Though having to repeat yourself suggests a lack of intelligence.
Had the misfortune to be there today and we were shocking - it's the first time I've ever thought of mailing the club and asking for my petrol money to be refunded. Wimbledon did nothing to gain the 3 pts - we gave them to them. First goal was simply down to a player not having anyone within 7 yards of him and taking two touches before picking his spot - pressing the ball is clearly not coached at PFC. 2nd goal was just embarrassing defending from a free kick that any team calling itself a team could and should defend. It really was schoolboy stuff. So I drove home in shocking weather trying to be objective - a few players can at least hold there head up - Atangana - why did Awf's drop him after last week (his selections are now beginning to baffle me) Taylor - who I think gets unfair stick - the bloke never stops working and chasing people down - others could learn from him. Across the rest I am really struggling - Bean & Hollands didn't look like they knew what they were meant to be doing - and Hollands looked knackered almost from the get go. Jed cut a frustrated figure all afternoon and was busy but ineffective - I'm not going to pick on people though - the team looked shapeless and without a clue most of the game apart from 5 minutes in the first half and a 15 min spell in the second half when the football was great with no end product. This issue I think sits with the Manager and staff - time to pick a team, stick with it for more than a game and pick scrappers with some talent thrown in. I fear for us at Luton based on this display - I really hope they go out and prove me wrong. Belated Merry Xmas to both sides of the County - may 2015 be all that all wish it to be.
look guys ........You lot are having a tough time. Remember the manager can only put out the players he has. The teams confidence is probably next to zero. In all honesty this is the time that Pompey's fans can show their true colours and get behind their team. Remember a good crowd getting behind their team is like giving them a goal start!!! I can't say I know how you feel cos in truth I don't. Although I do know what its like to be in despair for your team......Chin up lads even you SB3....you'll get there just be a bit patient.
It would help if Awfs didn't tinker so much. The crowd do get behind the team but in the end they get frustrated with the lack of effort and lack of desire. Teams beat us because they want it more, not because they're any better than us. It appears that it's the manager who is making the players lose confidence, there are times when they look as though they haven't understood their instructions, or, they are following instructions to the letter which frustrates them. Being played out of position doesn't help either.
LOL I love it sb3, getting a poor decision against a team like Chelsea makes my day lol I think we are still owed two or three, so another against Arsenal and Man U might be a bit much to ask for but who knows lol
Well Dev you have the power - I think is established that we will not be going down well not that far so as to bring SB's wish to fruition - it seems to be more of a WUM thread and mostly good natured I personally wouldn't mind it continuing to seasons end when those of us from down the road or in my case a little further can bask in safety and indulge in a little seasons end banter with good old SB3.
I have to confess I did think about editing the original post in about November to read something along the lines of 'Can the SCUMMERS finish in the top four and play Champions League football next season?' but then I fell off my office chair laughing!.............
I must admit that I have been surprised by Portsmouth's failure to make any impression in Division 2. Everyone was citing you as promotion favourites last season yet the results over the last 18 months are indicative that you will be in this league for some time. It's sad that a club so tied in to the community is failing to make an impression at this level as success would have ensured that it might have been a model that other clubs could have followed. I've heard all sorts of rumours about lack of funds yet you have a large squad. l looks like it might be tie to trim it and perhaps give some of the youngsters a chance to believe in themselves. The road back to a sensible and appropriate level of football for Portsmouth does seem a long way off but I believe that you will get there in the end -even if the intervening period may be far longer than most people would have expected. Surprised by Awford's inability to motivate the team as everyone was singing his praises back in the summer and expectations were high. I can't see that getting rid of him will do any good and they need some stability in order to find out exactly what the best line up is as well as encourage the youngsters. All the best for 2015.
Andy Awford had admitted that the squad is too large. At the end of the day the club has £xxx for wages. A smaller, better paid [better quality] squad than the one we have now looks like the logical way forward in my eyes. I just wonder if Awfs has been like a farmer scattering loads of seed all over rather than planting less seed in more fertile ground, if you know what I mean.
