Oh lovely! A new Panto thread. Well we all know who is going to be the rear end of the donkey, don't we?
Well it does exist. Laporte has apparently turned down a move from Athletic to City. He would have been on 70% more money had he signed, but he has chosen to remain at Athletic that benefits both him and Athletic. Saludos to him and Athletic.
That's good. It's nice to know there's some loyalty in this game. And don't get my words twisted, they're not a dig at Southampton. In recent years I have criticised the loyalty of many clubs, players and owners. For example Chelski... and it bemuses me that a player stays one additional season after being courted by higher ranked clubs and he's seen as some kind of becaon of loyalty *cough* Jed Wallace*cough* It's like really? What a sad world we live in where that is seen as a shining example of loyalty.
To my mind Lapras, it's a bit unfair to cite Jed Wallace as an example of a player lacking loyalty. He thoroughly deserved his move to Wolves, after his sterling service in his last season with us. It's not his fault that he had a buy-out clause of only £175,000 in his contract. He was worth at lot more than that. Shame things haven't worked out for him at Wolves, but hopefully he will get a break next season.
I'm not saying he lacks loyalty, I'm just saying he's not the shining bastion of loyalty that people make him out to be which isn't anything against him, but the general culture of within football whereby any slight showing of loyalty is blown-up.
We are certainly showing a lot more loyalty than your ex manager and two of your players (to date) have to your club, saddo
I have an awful feeling this topic is going to meander through the season varying in glee as to the progress of SFC be it up or down - so who really would be gleeful if they did go down - who are indifferent - who would be happy with mid table as long as they don't get into Europe or do well in any cup competition ?
I think this thread calls for another Channonfodder alternative. How about "Pompey going up - this time". Oh I´m a glutton for punnishment
Well I will have a think about it but to be frank this thread is a bit lame and is scarcely worth the parody.
