The stats may prove me wrong, but there seems to be a distinct lack of long shots in League One - or perhaps just Charlton? I'm sure I see other sides score scorchers on The Football League Show, but I may be mistaken.

No-one wants to hit it from distance anymore. Maybe my memory fails me, but I don't remember any 25 yard blockbusters last season from our players.

Is it a lost art-form in the lower leagues, or am I just talking nonsense?

I long for the days of a Kinsella-type player who can really give it a wallop - even if most of them land in the steet.

Am I on my own?

the one midfielder we had that used to have a good shot on him was montrose and we let him go.apart from ainsworth he scored some screamers last season

Therry Racon's goals were generally all long-range screamers, but thats only because he was too frightened to get anywhere near defenders. Nicky Bailey scored a fair few decent screamers too, but with a midfield which included McCormack and Semedo, they were sadly missing over the past season.

George Shipperly used to love having a go from long range back in the day..ussually ended up clearing the selhurst crosbar and landing in te then derelict valley

As a general point, Ponders, I agree with you, this is something that's been missing from our midfield for a while... hoping the new boys like to have a punt. Oh for the days of Steve Brown's daisy-cutters, Elk's free-kicks, or King-Claus... though Kinsella was the most accurate on a regular basis... remember a screamer at Norwich when he was facing away from the goal and hit it on the turn.
Does anyone remember Shaun Newton's headed goal from outside the penalty box... that was bizarre.

They were free kicks so hardly count, free kicks are always taken from outside the box...that's what makes them free kicks not penalties <ok>
