I remember in the early/mid sixties when Stockport County started playing games on a Friday night, one of the first, if not the first club to do so on a regular basis, to avoid clashing with Man Utd. They were getting crowds of 20,000 and referred to as Go Go County in the press. Edgeley Park was originally a rugby league ground. And FACT, Edgeley Park is the nearest football ground to the River Mersey.
