Of course he would be endorsing the YES campaign he is the First Minister of Scotland. The SNP and Salmond have campaigned on this subject for decades. He also happens to be the very popular in Scotland. I have asked many people who are voting no 'because they don't like Salmond' Why? what is it he has done? I don't get an answer apart from not liking his face. Of course the real reason people don't like him is because he beat the Labour Party in Scotland and took away what they saw as their 'right' to govern Scotland. A recent poll this week might suggest a truer picture of peoples feelings in Scotland. Although I have to say I am not a fan of opinion polls, much like the football stats, Yes trust ratings: Alex Salmond +15 Nicola Sturgeon +20 Dennis Canavan +8 No trust ratings: David Cameron -47 Alistair Darling -18 Johann Lamont -10 A new poll from Panelbase is suggesting a 2% move towards YES. Above are the ratings of individuals from both sides. The Scottish public are clearly seeing through the spin.

I am part of it crackerman this is the group I work with, http://www.businessforscotland.co.uk/ It is because of the general view of politicians ie they can't be trusted, it is the nature of politics, the group I work with consists of over 2200 Scottish businesses who want a YES vote. if you look at the video I posted it is one members giving the facts on the numbers without a political spin. We are getting the facts through despite the politicians and that is how the YES vote is growing all the time.
Ah sorry I think you did say that before! I am quite intrigued to see what would happen if the yes vote did win. Whether it would impact me in tunbridge wells (you don't get much more middle England than this town!)

Good Christ - as if supporting Spurs is not depressing enough now I have to spend a while skimming through a thread that includes a video describing how the Tories (and New Labour before them) are selling off the NHS to their mates (literally as far as I see from what I read in Private Eye). And if Scotland vote "Yes" then we'll be perma-Tory forever more. For totally selfish reasons I hope the vote comes back "No" cos we need all those Scottish Labour MPs. Mind you if the Scots can actually form a more civilized society for themselves by not privatising education and health then, well, I'll be happy for them but a bit gutted that it means it's much less likely to happen for the English. Will I be able to live in Scotland if the result comes back as "Yes"? Cos will it actually be a member of the EU? (I've not been paying much attention, TBH).
I'm hoping for a Yes win. Then I'll apply for political asylum as a US political dissident. I reckon the truth of that, plus a little spin on where I'm from, and the fact I have a Scottish name, should put me over the top. Though I've been wrong before.
Scotland would be a major trading partner with England- so any financial problems in Scotland would impact England and the rest of the UK. Almost certainly, any bailing out of Scotland in future decades if their economy crashes would have to be done in part by the UK. It's easy to think the UK wouldn't be effected, but if Scotland goes Belly-Up absolutely you'd be affected. On the other hand- Scotland would probably lose most of it's banking to England as banks relocate, and that would probably help the UK economy some.
