I see what you're saying Spurf but doesn't every player have to get used to a different club and playing style everytime they move? If they're good they'll strike up a partnership with their teammates quickly and the experience of playing regular first team football at this level could prove vital. I'd like Caulker to spend atleast half a season on loan at a Premiership club before we have him in our team on a more permanent basis. I'd also like one of Walker and Rose to go too, I think Rose would be best as Walker's already done it and Rose is still learning a new position. Shelf, I'm not so sure about VDV in midfield but I wouldn't rule it out either. I wouldn't have Modric on the left in a five man midfield either as it would crowd the five of them together too much. I'd prefer us to stick with how we played last season, with an extra season's experience a new striker and Friedal at the back I think we'll see a vast improvement from our defence and VDV.
Shelfsidespur..... The only problem I can see with that formation is Bale becomes a bit part player. When we've done our best to hold onto a player of his quality after many clubs have been seeking his talents. He would become frustrated and I could see him leaving in Jan for a club with CL football.
Snowy - he's only (injuries permitting) been a bit-part player for quite a while now. Everyone knows how to nullify his threat, and as much as I hate to admit it the 'one-trick pony' tag is a tough one to shift! How about I build in the fact of letting him go? --------------Friedel Charlie/Walker--Gallas--Daws--BAE/Rose --------------Sandro Lennon---Parker---VDV---Modders --------------Drogba Would certainly free up the funds to get the two that are currently missing. Just a thought? (p.s. I don't play FM )
Sell Bale? VDV in central midfield? Come on lads, lets be realistic here. Bale is world class, he can destroy teams on his own and has unbelievable energy and pace. VDV is no way near mobile enough to be a central midfielder and we don't need him in the middle as long as we have Modric, Huddlestone and Sandro.
It really annoys me when Harry gives it large about how he gave Fat Joe and Defoe their first starts in top flight football, yet he lacks the balls to give our own youngsters a start. What happened to Bostock? Why isn't Walker being bloodied at RB? Why doesn't Rose get more starts?
They aren't good enough. Although HR has said that Rose will be a top class LB and it will be close between him and BAE who is our LB next season.
I'd expect Walker and Rose to be part of the squad next season and to fight Corluka and BAE for the full-back positions, as well as offering emergency cover on either wing. Bostock made a few squads towards the end of the season, but who would he get into the side ahead of? Modric? Sandro? Van der Vaart? I don't think so.
If/when Danny Rose becomes an England first team player 'Arry will rave on about giving him his chance. If/when Bale becomes one of the world's best wingers, he'll rave on about it again. If/when Sandro wins the CL, the same again will happen. He'll fail to mention that all three of them were complete luck and 'Arry was forced to give them their chances due to other players getting injured and nobody else were fit to replace them at the time. I wonder if the same is true for Joe and Defoe?
Bale was always going to get his chance in the side, as Redknapp stated that he would play when Assou-Ekotto went to the African Nations. Sandro was given chances to play during the first half of the season and looked like his still needed time to adjust. As soon as he put in a couple of fairly decent displays, he was a permanent fixture in the side. Who else would have picked Rose as a left-back? He certainly didn't play there when out on loan and I would never have seen him as a likely candidate for that position. When Redknapp was at West Ham he used the loan system to blood most of his players. Joe Cole was the only one that he put straight into the side, as a 17-year-old. Defoe, Ferdinand, Carrick, Lampard and the rest all had successful stints at lower league sides.
You've missed about half a dozen at the bottom, anyway. That might just be because of my monitor, but I haven't adjusted the forum settings.
