notsosmartspur's comment is 100% accurate. Truly great players will be great even in mediocre teams whilst mediocre players will be regarded as being great players in successful teams, as evidenced in the comments above. As the article was about individual players and the contribution they make, or made, in teams that they play or played in I think that Parker is a player that contributes more to a team whilst Gascoigne, oh what a waste, was a player that could win a game on a sixpence, but just as easily lose it.
Glad i stimulated some interesting debate. The reference to Gazza was the he was the greatest ever England player.
I stopped reading there...whatever point you've droned on about after that....its moot!....now shut up.
There has never been a 100% perfect player. No matter how talented he is, or was, he always had faults, every genius is flawed in one way or another.
I wonder what Leeds would have achieved if they hadn't had that fella in goal for them.Sprake! Our Jack must have gone home shaking his head sometimes....... Dirty team though!Made Wimbledon look normal at times.
Gary Sprake leeds and Wales keeper made a few howlers, but then most keepers do.I rember When Sutton played them in the cup in 1970 Sprake was'nt playing that day as his father had died,so they had their reserve keeper,i think it was david harvey,so our best chance of scoring had gone!
