Just needs a good start to next season in order for some confidence to be re-gained as he made a lot of basic mistakes late last season despite some pretty good saves against Barnsley for example.

According to his twitter feed, Scott has been left out of the U21s 23...i think that will either knock his confidence more, or give him time to regroup and relax a bit. I see it as a positive for us..it'll take the pressure of him imho.

Yep, i agree. SL seemed quite up about it at first, grateful for his 14 caps, but later tweets suggest he's not so happy about it. Still, i think it's a good thing. Too much too soon can be a negative.

Loach needs to move on for the sake of his own game. His development seems to have reached a plateau with us. He needs new coaches , a new challenge and to work with different defenders. Being a benchwarmer in the Prem is no good to him. He needs to move to a competitive Championship team. From our point of view any offer above £500k would be a good one at this moment.

Spot on Roger - We do not seem to be able to develop the skills he is poor in, so we either bring in different coaches or ship him out.

Can't agree with that - we turned down offers in excess of £2m - he doesn't suddenly become useless - and is still in the International set up. Far too often watford have undersold their assets. He will bounce back - he has talent - perhaps he needs a new coach

Did we really turn down any offers for Loach, or was that paper talk? He hasn't suddenly become useless, he is just making a lot more costly mistakes - for me he is not getting the quality of coaching he needs.

Trouble with suggesting to get a new GK coach at Watford you start to enter "legend" territory and someone will throw a fit....

W_Y: Malky could get away with doing it, as he has been here for a number of years. Even if we take alleged gagging orders out of the equation, it's nothing like Vialli with Blissett and Jackett, or Boothroyd with Gibbs.

I don't agree that getting rid of Chamberlain would be a good idea, just saying that it's a decision Malky has earned the right to take if he thought it best.

Just a thought , but the gk coach in the england set up may be teaching him different stuff than Alec"
Maybe he has become overcoached and a bit confused!

Ray Clemence is the England gk coach, so you're probably right. Never did rate him!

BB never rated Ray Clemence ........all I can say is you never saw Liverpool play in the 70's. Started off with Keegan and Toshack with a side full of local young lads like Lindsay, Hall, Smith, Hughes, Thompson, Heighway etc etc

I heard the story about why he left in 1981 and signed for Tottenham just the other day. Needless to say Spurs were such rubbish even he looked 2nd rate.

Back to Loach I gather he will not improve his skills, it is all about consistency. On that basis you can forget about imploring him to "command his area" - its just not in his nature. What I want is a keeper who is consistent and who Tiny and Maps can trust.

    Well put Elixir.

If Scott Loach could make as few errors as an average Premier League keeper, it's clear that he would join their ranks. That's a massive, massive if though.

I think we are judging him harshly on a below par season - I keep coming back to the fact that many young keepers - and David James was amongst them go through spells in the development where they stand still or go backwards -we have to hope it is like that with Loach - he has not suddenly become poor overnight
