If money was no object, then I would love to keep DG at the Vic,He puts in more than goals ,he has bought into the MM version of the watford way and indeed is one of the leaders on and off the pitch!
Well at some point i ecpect every player has made a mistake wbich has cost us. Realisticly any club with a twenty goal plus a year striker will strugle to keep him unless your an arsenal or man utd
I am sure it is just a question of the "right" money - however much that turns out to be. We cannot afford not to sell players unfortunately
i'm not sure, on current form, anyone will be looking at him that hard...and i won't complain at that!
I don't mind if Graham goes for what he's worth (5-7mil), of course it will be disappointing but we've kinda accepted he will leave (bar a miracle). However I hope he does well and doesn't flop in the premiership. I don't mind if he goes to QPR or Swansea or whereever, as long as he is successful and we get the right amount for him.
We have always been a selling club. I just hope that if we sell him it is well before the start of next season and not just before the transfer deadline.
I agree with you WTF - hope we get at least ã7m plus sell on % and that he is a tremendous success - don't mind who gets him - so long as it is not one of thetop clubs as we need them to buy him for our sell on fee
NZ good point! dont want to be left short at the last minute! That said I think Troy will be able to replace capably!
Excellent point, NZ. TBH, if I were the board I think I would impose our own deadline that is suitable to us and stick to it. Let all parties who are interested and let it be generally known, if you want him, this is when you need to sign him by. Easier said than done given our financial position, but I do think clubs have to toughen up. Not give way to agents' demands for more money etc like they did. They have to be bold and show they have steel. It will take time to build a reputation for no nonsense, but once you have that reputation you can turn down silly bids as Ajax did with Suarez - "show respect when you bid" they told Liverpool, who promptly doubled their bid. i.e. you can't make bid after bid, increasing in ã100K increments till we accept it. You make a respectful bid, and if it's acceptable to us, we'll accept it. You take the proverbial, we won't deal with you, you lose. In the long run, you will get paid the money you are due for players, and the likes of the ã800K bid for Smudger will not happen. I understand that when Spurs reduced their offer for Loach as he was in his car on the way there (for a medical?), our then board rang up his car and told it to turn around. That heartened me so much. That's the way to conduct business. Two can play at that game. Be hard-nosed, we are not minnows to be treated how the big clubs fancy.
