It's strange though. Why don't they produce players? Obviously it's a small place but it's not small enough to explain how poor their national team is. And it's so closely aligned with England, you'd think they'd gain some benefit from that and have academies producing players like we do, albeit on a smaller scale.

They used to produce good players. In the 1960s to the 1980s all successful English clubs had a nucleus of Scottish players. But even with brilliant players in the side they never did anything as a national side.
I wonder if the PL is part of their problem. It produces a lot of players in England and makes Scottish football even less relevant.
