Oil you say? I hope you don t have any terrorists up there? We may need to steam in and liberate your people..
YAY!! that saves me around £7 every 5 years. fantastic!!! how much did the parliament building cost? £414 million!!! not to mention all the wages of the 100 odd dickhead MSPs and the 1000+ staff we pay for
I love the way Salmond assumed Scots would not enter illegal wars if they became independent...you know....like Iraq.....even though Blair and Brown are Scottish and Reid was the defence minister We don't live in houses made of shortbread Salmond!!!!!
**** I shouldn't have said anything. We have don't have weapons of mass destruction so you can't use that as an excuse.......................er unlike Iraq.
Right I'm going to bite here, I know I shouldn't but fuck it. Since the Act of Union in 1707 both Scotland & England have been side by side in building the greatest empire the world had ever seen. That empire dissolved over the 2nd half of last century but we still have the UK which despite society taking a nosedive in the past 10 years is still something to be proud of. As for Scotland, I have long since moved from there and cannot stand what it has become recently but it is still a beautiful country steeped in geniune great history - many of which moulded the British Empire and ensured the English could enjoy the life they have to this day. Scots do not live on English taxes, that is a myth with less credibility than anti Irish racism being rife in Scotland. Scotland has far more natural resources than any other place in Britain and has a higher GDP than everywhere outside London. Yes Scots benefit from free prescriptions and free schooling but has anyone bothered to look at the investments into infrastructure England has enjoyed? A simple drive from Aberdeen to Glasgow and then onto the south of England will paint the picture for you. The people in positions of power or with celebrity status in Scotland are complete wallopers, and reek of sheer incompetance but you go anywhere in the world and I guarantee there are Scots in high positions within businesses around the globe. We are like dugshite, we get fucking everywhere. The bravery, pride and brilliance of Scots regiments led to many unlikely victories in both world wars. To this day, Britain still relies on Scots to ensure we remain a major force despite the break up of the union. For what its worth I think we are much better off as a United Kingdom, I am still a Unionist despite having a succession of poor governments (Tory and New Labour are no different from each other) but I still have pride and hope in the Union. Both Scotland and England would be a shadow of themselves without each other. In times like now a break up would be madness. I actually think we should be looking to unite with Ireland while at the same time cutting responsibility with the EU. If any Scot thinks everything will be rosy being united with the EU but outside of the UK then they're absolutely mental. Fuck Salmond, fuck the SNP, fuck middle English mongs with their heads up their arses and fuck morris dancing.
We certainly won't be getting invaded by anyone from Norwich. I haven't seen such a collection of pansies anywhere else on the planet, and I've been to San Francisco. People from Norfolk couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag in a monsoon.
We're pretty much there already Nev. The Irish and Brits are so alike and it's not exactly a mission to get there.
Good thread. I'v long debated this too. I say give them FREEDOM, but don't subsise them at all and let them get on with it. Salmond talks big, lets see how he gets on. Bored of hearing their grumbling. Rebuild the wall.
If we want freedom we'll take it. It's not yours to give away. We don't need your subsidies. Instead of sending all the oil revenue to London and getting a fraction of it back we'll just keep it all. We'll be happy to sell you water as the south of your country slowly dries out though
Reading about all the great things that have come out of Scotland it seems to me we should be fighting for independance from them.
