I'd rather be in a union with the rUK than the EU anyway.

Like the majority of sensible Scots.
Mindy hates Britain especially England so it would be far simpler for him to move to his beloved Ireland.

So, I've got weans. One of them got an unconditional into an English Uni and is awaiting the outcome of an audition to see if she got into the RCS.

One will cost me £21,000 (tuition fee parameters set by Uk govt), the other will be free at the point of use (thanks to these evil anti-economic nats you're all so worried about). It's literally costing me right now never mind the future.

It's a bit bizarre folk making this sort of argument when it's pretty clear that our children will have more burdens and fewer opportunities in the UK than they will in either an indy Scotland or the EU.

There's gonna be loads of "but an indy Scotland won't be able to afford free HE" but it's an ideological and not a strictly economic decision.

Like Americans paying thousands every year for health insurance resisting a National Insurance because they believe they shouldn't "pay for others being ill" when they pay more than those countries with universal healthcare.

My post was more about the right now and immediate future as, imo, if Scotland becomes an Independent country, there will be a sustained period of pain to:

1 pay for independence set up

2 pay any share of UK debt

Then there will need to have to be a plan to pay our own way until such time we become sustainable…

The ex-Bank of England ‘boss’ explains a lot of it in the video Aldo posted. It’s also explained in loads of links I posted…

We’re going to be hit with large tax increases. This would mean:

    · Less money in my pocket

    · Less money for my expenditure

    · Less money towards in my savings and investments

    · Less money towards my pension pot

There will also be budget cuts across Scotland – councils are already on their arse for providing services. Increase in Council Taxes to increase further imo in an independent Scotland.

This will directly affect me, my wife , my daughter and my family. Selfish, you better ****ing believe it.

That’s not taking into account any potential fall in value of Sterling or the fall in the value of the ‘Scottish” £.

Unless the SNP can come up with a viable economic argument for Independence (they couldn’t the last time) in tougher economic circumstances then most people, thinking with their heads not their hearts, will make a decision to say No thanks.

I pay for all three of them.

One of them I might have to pay for twice. Indy isn't gonna happen anyway.

Even if there is a vote, folk will mostly vote on emotional/ideological lines and then kid on justify it with a bullshit financial case whatever way they voted.

They couldn't come up with viable economic arguments the last time either

However everything you fear above is now going to happen anyway

The Scottish Government's answer to that was:

“The report suggests the overall participation rate for HE is lower in Scotland than in England. However, it fails to take account of the significantly different context in Scotland whereby a significant proportion of HE takes place in colleges.
“When participation in college is factored in, the Scottish HE participation rate is significantly higher than in England.”

The SNP have cut the college funding, though, which doesn't help.

If you're looking for nuance in this, you're not gonna get it many places - you're gonna get opinionated bluster aff everybody - seems mental that people moan about Scotland's NHS performance when it's blootering the rest of the UK in every measurable metric.

Call me old fashioned, but I think to suggest that charging people for higher education fees helps the poor close an attainment gap just clearly can't be true.

You've lost it Baz. The plot has left the building ya wallapor. How the **** am i going on about money? You're the one that said i want to give money to scum just because i said England would go right as we go left. Not a mention of money from me.

Fact is i only mentioned money when pointing out your claim that Scotland runs a 15 billion deficit every year was total bullshit. You swerved that well though...for one post and now you're back on it <laugh>

You are the real scum tbf. Not two weeks ago you were on here bragging about dodging tax and Ni. Now you are banging on about the deficit and calling people on benefits scum.

Typical hypocritical hunnery. Loves the queen but not enough to pay his share.

    There she blows boys <rofl>

Goes on about money - denies going on about money.

Scotland runs a £15bn deficit - you're the one who refuses to answer how that gap is cut.

In the 2016-17 tax year, Lochrie industries has paid over £400k in tax, NI, VAT and Corporation tax to fund help fund UKPLC and keep our valued public services ticking over. No dodging from this Elite son of Easterhouse.

As for the last two paragraphs.... <whistle>

The real scum? Who was it tagging personal tags again?

    gstq folks
