I don't normally get involved in these kind of bets but as the selection team have won me a few bob over the past few months I would be happy to go along with Nass's proposal of 25 Stake.....50 at a push! Good Luck!
Ron's suggestion of £1 shares is the way forward. So £100 buys you 100 shares etc and with a minimum stake of (say) 25 shares as a one-off That Twitter syndicate seems to have things nailed down admin-wise, although their selection criteria is a mess. The fund would have to be closed by Friday evening at the latest, so that the selection gang know how much they have to work with. I'm up for chucking £100 in as a one-off, and as previously stated, I have a Mint account with £4.98 in that hasn't been used since 2003. It must still be valid, as they keep sending me monthly statements! Obviously there is the trust thing, but we are talking about a one-off event, until we can sort out the finer details of a more regular attempt. I have met several of the forum's members irl and more than a few have my phone number. I'd like to see us take a crack at this, and if I can help, I am more than willing
I'm sure most of us would be happy with £1 shares, minimum 25 shares as a once in a lifetime massive punt! Good Luck!
Ok - epic fail on the Mint account. The say they have closed it for being inactive. I asked why they still send me statements, and they say they are obliged to by law as there is still a credit balance. They are sending me back the £4.98. It has probably cost them more than that in postage over the years! At the risk of sounding like a real dodgy geezer - I have another account, but wouldn't be happy at sharing the password as it holds a few grand at the moment. Let me have a word with Ron ....... brb again!
You wouldn't need to share the password Reebs but you would have to supply the Bank Branch Code, Account No and Name so that everyone can transfer the money into the account. If we win, members will have to supply you with their bank details so you can transfer the money out. Presumably there are no restrictions as regards transferring money out? I have a sterling UK bank account so can pay in sterling but I don't know if other non UK residents have, in which case there could be a currency exchange problem. I would need to be sure that scoop 6 winnings are not restricted to UK residents (eg I can't buy lottery tickets by DD because it is restricted to UK residents). I think we need to decide by tomorrow if we are going ahead. If it looks like we won't have the funds to buy enough lines to stand a reasonable chance of winning, it may lose its attraction.
As it would be me placing the bet, and therefore me collecting the prize (fingers crossed) then there shouldn't be a problem with any UK restrictions on overseas players. As to paying back to club members - if direct transfer doesn't work - and it should - there is always a PayPal option - albeit with a 10% surcharge. I think you are right about decision day Ron - let's start a new thread JUST for a commitment to take part, and at what number of shares each entrant wants. I'll start that now.
