Scholes is easily the most technically gifted player England have ever produced, and the best striker of a football I've ever seen, he strikes a football in the same way Tiger Woods strikes a golf ball, to perfection every time. I'd like to wish him a happy retirement and thank him for all the years of service!

No wum intended just facts but it was just a passing observation and they aren't as different as you say when you consider Lampard replaced Scholes for England when he said he was passed it. But his entitled to his opinion as I am mine and mine is with the man who has scored more and made more assists and made more appearances for club & country.

Well fair enough, you are of course entitled to your opinion. Tho' I doubt you'll find many to agree with you, given the number of commentators, players and managers who believe Scholes is the best England midfielder of the last twenty years. I may be wrong, but I can't remember any unbiased observers saying that about Lampard?
And talking about how Lampard replaced Scholes in the England midfield is probably not the wisest way to support your argument when you think how badly the England midfield has performed since Scholesy hung up his boots. If I was being harsh, I might even say he's been a second rate replacement at best. If I was being harsh that is...

As a gooner ( someone has to be) and as much as this stings i would just like to add that Paul Scholes is a Man UTD great, one of only a few man u players i respected, played his football with total commitment, kept his head down and is worthy of the the title of legend , theres a good deal of footballers out there who could learn a thing or two from him. Sad to hear of his retirement, if you can keep him in a coaching role, your youngsters will be set!
