He had a cracking game, couldn't do anything about the goal. England were mind-numbingly dull though, that's the first time I've watched them in a while and I'd forgotten they were. I was cheering for Denmark, I have to confess, because of Kasper.
We must do everything possible to keep Kasper But i suspect its more him not wanting to discuss a new deal until promotion is confirmed rather then the club not wanting to talk yet
England need to get this idea of winning the World Cup out their heads and use it the build something. Other then Steven Gerrard any player that has no England future after World Cup shouldn't go. My starting line up would be Hart Walker Cahill Caulker Baines/Shaw Wilshere Gerrard Barkley Lallana Sturridge Rooney With players like Oxlade Chamberlain, Welbeck, Sterling, Henderson, Butland, Townsend, Zaha, Ince etc Maybe we stand a chance of actually doing something at Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018 If the Lampard's, Cole's, Carrick's, Barry's, Terry's, Ferdinand's and Defoe's of this world turn up then we might aswell give up
I'm totally with you on this one, Proud. I really hate that we STILL pick our England squad on name alone. Regardless of whether they are actually playing for their club. Ashley Cole still got in this squad, and we started him at LB. What was the point? Firstly, he's not even playing for his club. Secondly, it's a friendly, and playing Cole will not tell us anything new. Should have just given Shaw 90 minutes IMO. I was most disappointed with our Euro 2012 squad. Roy had just come in, nobody was expecting anything, it was a free shot at a tournament where nobody would have been surprised had we gone out at the group stage, and he would in no way have been fired for it. But he still picked the usuals from our "golden generation", that had done so well in previous tournaments...
The defence is the real problem ... that and finding a formation that accomodates some of our better players My starting XI in Brazil for what it's worh ... Hart Shaw Richards Caulker Johnson Sterling Gerrard Barkley Wilshire Lallana Sturridge Subs: Forster, Clyne, Baines, Cahill, Huddlestone, The Ox, Townsend, Rodriguez, Rooney
Richards (I assume you mean Micah!?) has been a massive disappointment for me. I was expecting good things from him, and he looked quality when he first burst on to the scene. But he is always injured! Such a shame... Agree with the rest though. As I said, we are in dire need of a revamp!
I'd like to think that if we get to the Premier League, Kasper would happily sign a new contract. Maybe with a relegation clause in it though...
Oxlade Caulker Rodriguez Sterling £10 on them 4 to make the World Cup squad... Over £1,000 returns. Good bet!? Worth a tenner!?
Needed to find a centre-back that's not slower than a tram ... would nave gone for young Liam but suspect that it's a little too early and would have opened me up to accusations of nepotism
Caulker is possibly your achilles heel ... still, if you also include doubles and trebles I think you might just cover your bets even if Caulker doesn't go...
This is why I went for Caulker, we are seriously lacking in the CB department! I'd say currently our first-choice pairing would be Jagielka and Cahill. Then I'd guess Smalling would take up a spot (don't rate him personally). And then the final would be between Caulker and Jones? Though we could bring Jones in as a utility player... We had a 30-man squad, and only managed to name 3 CB's! Shame Morgan had committed himself to Jamaica
... if it is, we can look forward to the post group stages of the 2014 World Cup without the distraction of having to watch England playing ...
I'm expecting this to be the case regardless. As much as I dislike the man, Cahill and Terry seem to be performing well as a CB pairing at club level. Can't see a recall incoming though...
