You have to feel a bit sorry for him Tewkesbury, they stood just as good a chance of promotion with Clarke in charge.
The game today ten times better than the one yesterday - Crewe were always going to have too much for Cheltenham, but they really gave it a go - non-stop action stuff. Powell's goal certainly one of the best I've seen this season, but faded badly in the second half. Off to Manchester United apparently - hope he doesn't regret moving so soon in his career.
Apparantly a fee of around £5million is being spoken of. He's certainly a big talent, but I don't think a move to Man United would be the best. A Championship club maybe, heck even a lower Premier League club. But he's hardly going to be in the first XI at Man U, and will just get shipped out on loan for the next three years.
Ye gods...that's a lot of money. That's what I think would happen as well, WeWant - look what's happened to Ibe - completely off the radar. Shame. Talented players should have the widest possible audience IMO, however raw they are..
Gosh I'd forgotten about Ibe! By all accounts he could probably be doing a half decent job in the Championship at the moment. Here's to hoping Powell sticks around with (League One) Crewe, or else goes to the Championship. Would be a great shame if he fell into the footballing abyss.
There was one comment in the game which showed how narrow some commentators' perception of the game is - came after 20 minutes or so of cracking football and he said "...we must remember that we're looking at the fourth tier of English football here". How f*****g patronising is that? Get out of the Premiership once in a while...
It does piss me off how so many pundits/commentators/fans can't seem to appreciate that there is a wealth of talent all the way through the divisions. The amount of times I've heard negative comments about Jamie Vardy/Jordan Rhodes etc. which seem to suggest that scoring goals in the lower leagues is easy, its clearly not. As much as I hate SkySports and everything Sky stands for, I do appreciate their airing of League One and Two football - really gives an audience to these players and hopefully serves to teach some fans that pretty passing football isn't only limited to the top flight.
sorry for the belated reply tewkes but i have been working my knackers off all weekend,it wasn't just rhodes that played well against us it was the whole udders team, but then again if wycombe had realised there was a game on we might have turned up as well
