You shouldnt boo your own players with a few exceptions. I agree on that. But to critise them on an internet forum is completely different.

Booing players effects the team too much imo

The great thing about going by coach to game is there are certain individuals who never stop moaning from the moment they board the coach. We stop for breakfast they are still moaning. We get to London and go to the pub and the moaning continues. We win the game and are on the bus for the journey home and certain people don't care that we've won but you rather moan that certain player didn't have a good game.

The point i was making earlier was that years ago players were only booed on the pitch, nowadays fans use forums like this to vent their anger.Personally i don't think there's any difference to booing a player on the pitch or abusing him on the internet.I would make the point there is a difference between criticism and abuse

I expect thats more an unlikeable personal trait than something spcifically football related though. They would probably be moaning about the tax man or motorcycalists if it wasnt football.

What do you mean? Booing isnt criticising someone. Booing is a specific action which basically says "fck off".

We are criticising players on their play and there is nothing similar between that and booing.

Well yeh I have experienced this. I dont really mind it though because they are entitled to their views. Sometimes it makes me laugh too. Had 1 guy behind me once who was on the teams back from minute 1. Was hilarious.

My mate and his missus used to be ST holders at Anfield.I've been to a few games with him over the years when his missus didn't want to go.There was a bloke who sat by them who was nicknamed "Coach".The bloke didn't stop screaming from kick off and the vast majority of the time he got players names wrong <laugh>

I think this is a much more balanced post. Fans reaction may be often exaggerated, but there is always a reason for their criticism. And by the way Mert IS slow. Even players themselves admit it. As for Ramsey - I would not say he is playing very poorly this season. I think he is a decent young player, there is just way too much expectations around him. Some think he is or will be a world beater. He is an OK player. I think he would feel more comfortable at Everton of Fulham, there will be too much competition for him in Arsenal. But slagging him for that is not fair imho. The only thing I really did not like about him was his attitude against Wolves when he was chewing gum during the game. He might as well take his mobile and play angry birds when the ball was not around. I hope Wenger saw it and dealt with it. Same with Djourou - he will never be an Arsenal starter due to lack of character, but he is a useful squad player.

It's always funny how people behave at matches. Myself, I must admit, I am really quiet. I dont sing. I try and avoid standing. I go to be entertained. I know some might not think that makes me a real fan or a club but I couldnt give two ****s tbh! Sure I care as much as anyone that we win. But I guess I just dont see the point in singing. Cheer yes. Sing no.

if i was a liverpool fan, i would boo suarez, because he's a cheat and an all round asshole. plus he looks annoying with that grin/scowl of his.
if i was a man city fan, i would boo tevez, because he's an asshole.

luckily i'm an arsenal fan, and so i get to boo all of those guys, and nasri and some other assholes.

    That's me! Yay I am famous <ok>

The rest I agree with. Except I also say jenkinson is championship standard. Because at the moment he is. He might come good but I dont want to see that progression take place in the arsenal first team whilst costing us points.

I think it's an interesting point about the fine line between criticism and abuse.
There have been times this season where most of our players have warranted some criticism, that's fair enough. And I don't buy the polarised argument that you either criticise them or blind faith support them, that's far too simplistic and actually a little bit of a lazy and inaccurate argument. I think every fan on here has recognised and commented on the shortfallings this season.
However the point is that if you criticise players, then by the same measure, you need to have the awareness and humilty to recognise when they play well and contribute to the team.
Three of the players who have come in for a lot of (unwarranted imo) criticism this season. Walcott, Song and Ramsey have actually made a huge contribution to us being in 3rd now - and I'd just like to see a bit of acknowledgement for that

The only players i've routinely criticised this seasonhave been Djourou and Ramsey. I do give Song a bit of stick, but only because he's caught out of position too often.

I think Ramsey has shown HUGE strength of character this season. Even when things weren't coming off for him, he never let his head go down and gave in. He kept on battling and giving 100% commitment and I think his recent performances have been an indication of the quality player that he is becoming.

  20. I don't think Walcott or Song have come in for a lot of criticism. Some yes, and usually warranted after a poor performance. Most would say they are very good players.

I think that your point is correct about polarisation. It is this that I find so inaccurate in your original OP, it paints a picture of many players being slagged off and of some kind of scandal.
