The decks are done in sections, and added to the hull, just loose at the minute as they have to come off again later.

Otherwise known as mddle class herion. Used to buy badly painted models off ebay, strip them and repaint and sell back on but the range increases so much it's difficult to keep track of which models are worth the cash for doing so. Moved over to Star wars legion figures instead as the range is a lot more limited and I prefer Star Wars. Started doing bits of scenery as well, just about to embark on making the temple from Tython that was in the Mandalorian.

I might post this one over a few posts, just to show how it progressed.
Plan was to build the hull, and spray the whole thing with grey primer, then spray bottom third oxide red, top third white, and middle third black. Halfords grey, red and white primer, and Halfords matt black spray worked well.

Then two lines of masking with a small gap between, gap painted black to seal the tape, then a line of yellow over the top.

Quite pleased with this....just another 250 or so parts to go.

Was it the normal primer or plastic primer you used from halford's? Never thought of using them but the prices are good compared to games workshop or army painter. Having said that, both of them companies do excellent paints but when it comes to primer I just want the cheapest I can get that won't peel off plastic.

I used plastic primer for the hull of the Victory, but the Titanic I just used their normal primer. I then used red primer, white primer matt black over the grey. Sprays really well, and I've had no issues overprinting with either humbrol enamels or tamiya acryllics.
I would just use the normal from now, same price, bigger can.

Meant to say, cheers for recommending that we persevere with the Mandalorian we've really enjoyed it and nearly seen them all. I've preferred the second series it seems to have found its feet. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Agree with this. Direction was a lot tighter, special effects were crisper and it didn't suffer from having to world build, could just get on with telling the story. In a way I envy the fact you haven't watched all of it yet as the finale is yet to come for you. And what a finale it is, watched that episode about 5 times the day it came out.

Actually saw the finale last night, I hadn't realised how far through it we were. I got a proper spine tingle at the end when a certain character was revealed, very well done. I wish the recent films were as good as this was.

Last bit, the Marconi aerial, now done. This is the bit that goes between the two masts, and is used for the ships (morse code) radio. It was a bit fiddly getting the 4 threads parallel to each other.
I started this on 12th April, and finished 2nd May, so 3 weeks to complete, and really enjoyed doing this one.

Brilliant mate and thanks for all the pics and info, quite enjoyed this post as it took me back to my childhood making airfix kits. Well done

Ive got a small, sectional, display shelf in the spare bedroom, but its not very good. Its ok to get the bikes on, and the Titanic can fit on the top of it, but not much more. I need to get something bigger really.
