No chance at all its Defoe. The season is still going on, they are going to make the playoffs, the MLS transfer window is closed so they couldnt even sign a replacement, he would cost a hell of a lot more than they paid for him, he makes 90k pounds a week, and he has over 3 years left on his contract. You might as well say we are going to sign Messi.
You can say your 2nd guess. Defoe is just never going to happen. Its possible he could push for a loan in between MLS seasons but as far as leaving the MLS on a permanent that will never happen. After he signed that contract for that much money at his age his only choice is to move between MLS clubs there will be no leaving the league.
Like the Twilight Zone, only for overpaid footballers. Spooky. Are there not any really-good-but-can't-get-a-game players at the likes of Madrid (either) Barcelona, Munich or Juve we could borrow?
1 Assou-Ekotto 2 Peter Crouch ( Seen At the Village Hotel, ties in with HR comments yesterday ) 3 Harry Kane on Loan
Hang on a sec, Bruce said we were in for 2-3 players before we sold Long. He did an interview with Burnsy saying he'd like a CB and a central midfielder that can "do a little bit of everything" and im guessing the 3rd player would be a striker if we sold prozzy, which we now have. So those 3 players we needed & Bruce wanted, there was money already available, dont forget we bid for Dawson, money was available. Now we've just sold Long and got £12m. I cant believe Bruce has said he's going to invest that money and bring in 2-3 players using the Long money... we should be putting the £12m into a replacement and nothing else. If we want to get bigger and better, then when you sell your best striker, you try to bring in a BETTER striker and a better striker will cost around £10-15m. I guess time will tell what happens but id like to think we'll spend a good bit of cash on a new main striker.
How about Hugo Rodellega from Fulham. Wasn't it Brucey who brought him to England in the 1st place when he was manager at Wigan.
Just find the top scorer in a semi-decent league (Portugal, Greece, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, Brazil, Argentina, Czech Republic etc) and buy him.
I'm saying bugger all about. Who we should buy after hoping we would go for Billy Sharp in the past. Just glad I'm not a footy manager because I reckon whoever we go for is a risk.

He's picked a youth over him, does certainly send a message to Welbeck. Not necessarily to us though.
