I don't believe players should be on Twitter. It just brings unwanted attention on the club. Unfortunately the world out there has become incredibly over sensitive and overly PC. I don't agree with the notion that you shouldn't say this or that because someone might misunderstand and become offended. What the **** sort of world is that to live in? Treading on eggshells the whole time to appease the over sensitive nature of society? Sounds pathetic to me.

The reality is though, that is how the world is now. Therefore rather than try to allow them to stumble through the PC mindfield, I'd just remove them from twitter. The cry is "yeah but it makes them seem human and helps fans connect". It does on occasion but not really, they have no interest in connceting with fans. The occasions where controversy rears its head far outweigh this anyway. The whole social media and people in the public eye is just cake baked in hell as far as I'm concerned.

The trouble is with the private/public nature of Twitter.

I might tell my mates down the pub a joke which I knew a lot of people could, understandably, find offensive. If someone in the pub said they were offended I could tell them not to listen into private conversations between me and my mates. If I shout the same joke out to everyone in the pub then they have a lot more right to complain. Twitter is a sort of private conversation which I know is being played over the PA system. Bad combo. Sooner they stop the better.

Having said that, in this particular case anyone who was offended is an idiot, or likes being offended, or both.
