Yeah, I was surprised, actually - I'd asked him a couple of weeks ago but got no response, didn't want to push as it's **** all to do with my job!!!
He's one of my customers, a large business owner, based there and he's expanding operations into KSA - he said he'd been with PIF last week and the feeling was this was all but a done deal. Completely confident it was done, though, no question.
Like I say I've no reason to doubt him, and he has zero reason to lie, so I'm suddenly very relaxed and confident about it. At a guess, I'd say some of the finer details might still be being ironed out, some rumour about increased payment depending on final placement, but a bottom line figure of £340m without a relegation clause is where its at and a project budget of around £500m to transform the club. The lessons from City will be learned, you'd imagine, which puts us in an interesting place.
Long time NUFC advocate, Jake Humphreys, claims he has big news at 12. He posted it on Twitter next to a Norwich sign, so might be utterly unrelated, but you never know. Certainly it seems close and I think a number of people are hearing the same things from PIF, or people linked to PIF.
I have no inside (or even outside) info but if there is no relegation clause, every one is confident but nothing is happening it may be that the deal is conditional upon us staying up. We need 9 (or maybe only 7) points from our last 12 games. People may just be waiting for survival to be assured before committing.
