Only Cairney, beat a man, are you drinking early ISTPLT?

So when did one of them last do something creative like a proper playmaker would?

That's nothing to do with what I said. I just said Cairney is the only player who I'm confident in passing the ball. Quinn and Koren are generally safe enough but they never create much do they? It's been one of our big problems for years, our 'creative midfielders' don't actually create anything. The last one that did is probably Bullard!

I can't be bothered to think of a million examples to keep you happy, but when Koren was back playing in midfield, when was the last time he didn't do anything creative?

I agree he's thwarted a bit by playing up front but it's not like he never drops back and when he does, he just isn't creative enough often enough for me. At Brighton there were times when we'd break (and our entire team are guilty of this not just Koren) and he was on the ball and he looked like a defender playing out of position, just didn't have a clue where to pass or more importantly when to pass and we ended up losing it. When he goes through one-on-one his shots are embarrassingly bad. Composure is the key word I suppose. Quinn, also at Brighton had that half-volley in the box after a corner and just because it was on his right foot he couldn't cope with it at all and put it in the stand. It's not that they're bad players of course, just that they're supposed to be our best players in those situations and still aren't very good at it. There's a reason we don't score goals!

When he drops back, it's not like he has a chance to be very creative unless he wants to thread a pass through for the enemy strikers. He needs to be dropped deep, whilst other players are making runs ahead of him, he can drop deep from his striker position all he likes but what creative thing can he possibly do when there's no one in front of him to thread a ball through to?

Koren is wasted upfront. It's not fair on him.

He should be moved back in the middle 3, alongside Quinn and Meyler. I would keep our 3.5.2 because we may have an half decent striker now (Gedo)

****ing hell, what a joke if that's true.

Apparently Hobbs is going to partner Simpson up front and Gedo will play on the left wing.

Yep you're right, playing up front will definitely thwart his creativity. But I don't think he's good enough under real matchday pressure from defenders personally. Compare him to someone like Whittingham who is as good as we make Koren out to be. How many assists has he got in the last 2 or 3 years? Bet it's a ****load. I'm not trying to have a moan about Koren, I just think for someone who is meant to be one of our best attacking threats, he doesn't pose much of an attacking threat. Maybe that's more a reflection on the whole team than him personally I don't know. But thinking back even Dean Marney got a lot of assists at this level and seemed to open teams up a bit, he was probably the last one before Bullard. Koren has a lot more ability than Marney but I don't think we see it enough.
