You know, you contribute some good discussion at times and then you drop some utter **** like this. Snow Fairy needs a mile and a half just as much as Nathaniel and SNA! (see her late surge at Epsom or the comprehensive defeats by Midday, or indeed the running on too late efforts in the Arc and the Champion) Nathaniel has looked quicker this year and his win over FARHH reads very well now. If you want to put 16/1 up on Betfair il snap it up. As it is though I think this might be St Nics final big race victory and he will love the drying ground.
SNA last chance for me today Toppy - he has everything in his favour I am on mate. Regardless of the result today though and whatever people say SNA is not a slow horse.
The 16/1 obviously tongue in cheek toppy, but you get the point, I dont rate Nathaniel as highly as some and I am of the opinion that he is going to struggle big time over 10f at Leopardstown. Snow Fairys best trip is 10f imo.
Snow Fairy has won 2 Gp1s over 1m2f and 2 over a very fast 1m3f in Japan. Nathanial admittedly has this years Eclipse over the shorter trip, but he committed early and held on that day, needing every yard on Gd/Soft. St Nicholas Abbey has done all his winning as a mature colt over 1m4f plus. That just about settles it in the mare's favour imo. Plus I think she may just be the best of these very good horses.
Just putting up what ive done in the Sat League comp... 3.35 Kemp - Red Orator, 4/1 3.50 Strat - Monte Cavallo, 5/2 4.20 Strat - Allerford Jack, 7/2 5.30 Wolv - Fast Finian, 3/1 5.45 Leop - Nathaniel, 7/4 Singles and doubles... Good luck to all today...
St Nicholas Abbey representing Frankel's 10 furlong form today of course ...................................
Fair enough if you think he might not be as good as some would argue. I just get the impression sometimes though that it's a hatred of the horse and I think that is unfair because he is as genuine and as tough as they come- you usually get your moneys worth from him and we need more horses like him. He's got a good record now though- is a King George winner, almost double winner, has won the Eclipse, and has only been worse than 2nd on one occasion. His formlines are all of the highest order too- tying in with Breeders Cup Turf winners, Arc winners, and the mighty Frankel. He's a genuine Group 1 colt. Today will tell us a fair bit about him- quick ground in Ireland over a trip we all consider too short for him, so a good run here would see him set up nicely for going close in the Arc (draw permitting).
Ascot 3.45 Arnold Lane. The 3 year old is improving and can go close in this highly competitive handicap. Best Price 12/1 Betfair. Ascot 4.50 Ajjaadd Is coming to hand and ran a good race last time. Been well supported this morning. Best Price 9/1 Betfair/Sportuing Bet.
Smashing horse she is Oddy. You might remember a long long time ago on the old Refugees board that I put her up as one to follow as she keeps going up the handicap ratings. She's gone up 20lb in the handicap since I put her up that day but I do think there might be half a stone left in her- she was always going to be a gradual improver over middle distances. On the flip side, a horse caught my eye early this season is Roc De Prince who makes his handicap debut in the same race- I fancy him to run a really nice race at 12s and would like to think both can make the frame.
Beaten out of sight by Frankel, yes, but if you take Frankel out of the race then SNA was beaten a nose by Farhh with the rest nowhere. That is decent form in anyone's book, particularly when you look at Farhh's performances in the Prince Of Wales and Eclipse (and argue he has progressed through the season). If Ballydoyle can use their pacemaker more sensibly today I see no reason why SNA shouldn't be in the mix and he looks better value to me than the first 2 in the market. I think Ryan Moore gets a rattling good tune out of Snow Fairy and for me it's a definite negative that he isn't on board today. On a strict line through Farhh Nathaniel ought to have the beating of SNA but on today's ground I can't be taking cramped odds about him and 7/2 seems a nice price on SNA.
Afternoon guys and thanks for the daily thread Topclass. One from me today runs in the 4.05 Thirsk and looks to have decent place claims NOBLE ALAN 16/1 (EW) Good luck to all who play today
15:25 Haydock - Wizz Kid e/w (@ 12/1 generally available). (Ortensia should win this of course, but if there's an upset this French sprinter might be the one to do it; e/w best I guess. See RV advises Pricewise has tipped it, oh well!).
