He was impressive on chase debut wasn't he and to be completely fair to PN he buys horses to go chasing not hurdle. The old adage is out again. Whatever he did over hurdles was a bonus. 7/4 is a very tasty price today.

I really like Grandads Horse as an animal but I think he's within 5lbs of his actual mark and it wouldn't surprise if there was something lurking in that race with more in hand. 5/1 is available so each way is an option but it's a tricky race.

In complete agreement with you and ROTO - I wasn't blown away with him last season, but I was very impressed with his chase debut. I'm on at 7-4 BOG - thankfully there is some competition to keep the price decent <ok>

Steve, if you are still here - Percy is waiting for your challenge! And no doubt hoping you don't make one, so he can call you a wimp <laugh>

Yes can you believe the flat is still going-- its not right that its still going in November if you ask me!! Still gonna have a punt in the ultra competitive and bit of a lottery November handicap. I can not decide between 2 today so ive done both....

Nicholaspercornicus and Highland Castle both e.w 5 places.

Cant believe Channel 4 aren't showing the good novice chase from Wincanton instead of that bottom of the barrel, end of season drivel from Doncaster FFS...

Ruby seems to have numerous 'hotpots' at Naas today so I've ventured a silly treble on

    12.15 Rupert Lamb
    12.50 Diakali
    2.35 Clonard Lad

Not an advocate of multiples but singles haven't been too successful lately so I'm adopting a scattergun approach <laugh>

Me neither but a £2 lucky 15 yesterday, benefitted YouCanCallMeJeff to nearly £1300! That said, in over 50 years of betting I have NEVER had four winners together!

I shudder to think what that loss would have been if I HAD been doing them <laugh>

    Morning all,
I'm also in the Wonderful Charm camp today and also backed MR. The other one i like at Wincanton is Alan King's bumper horse Ulzana's Raid who won on debut at Towcester last year and 14/1 seems like a cracking e/w bet. At Sandown fancy an upset and backed Hinterland to beat Grandouet who has to many F's next to his name for my liking. Over at Naas like Ruby's 3 mentioned by Beef and also Wounded Warrior in the last who is a winning pointer now with N Meade.
    Good luck today everyone <ok>

Rupert Lamb wins the 12.15 at Naas for me, a proper 2 miler he should have too much speed for the rest of these who look stayers with the exception of Dylan Ross who should follow him home but usually finds nothing off the bridle so I'd fancy Rupert to out battle him if it comes to that. Took the 13/8 last night with PP but there's been a withdrawal this morning.

Melodic Rendevous is out to 9/2 in places this morning, was very keen on him all week but very surprised at his price now thought he'd go off nearer 2/1. Should anything be read into this or should I just get my money on now?

There's been a lot of money for Far West (Pricewise?) which has probably pushed out MR. I took 3-1 but with BOG I'm happy he's drifting :)

    Morning gents,

I mentioned MR last night but there is a few others i like also. There is a brilliant Mares Handicap at Wincanton and 2 horses i backed last year appear. Call me a Star and Utope Des Bordes. Both have obvious claims but both are carrying a lot of weight also. Call me a star gave Utopie 6 pounds and was only beating by 2 lengths but she is now 7 pounds better off. But Utopie may not have stopped imrpoving yet and the form behind Ubak looks like it could be very useful with Ubak running a 2nd by a neck to Un Atout next time out in a grade 1.

Wincanton 1.30 - Utopie Des Bordes
Wincanton 2.05 - Melodic Rendezvous - 9/2 now lost a leg during the night?
    Wincanton 3.15 - Wonderful Charm
Sandown 1.20 - I am actually quite disappointed there is only 4 runners because i really fancy Turn over Sivola to run a big race. I think the form behind Dodging Bullets will be quite good and a mistake 2 out cost him what would have been a cracking finish. I will still have a bet but as its win only, only a small one.
Sandown 2.30 - Kapga De Cerisy - Sandown specialist who is 3/4 here. Was my pick for the Byrne Plate at the festival but made a bad mistake 7 out when going well at the time and was pulled up consequently. Was going well also next time out when he was brought down so there is nothing that suggests the mark is too high.
Sandown 3.05 - Saphir De Rheu - I tipped him last week but he was pulled before the race due to the ground. Won as he like over heavy ground at Taunton last year and that run made him go off as favourite for the Fred Winter, Nicholls thought the world of him but he ran no race at all. Back on heavy ground today we should see a different beast.

Hardly a tip but Diakali will no doubt win comfortably today and if he drifts any more in the market could be worth a bet.

I know everyone is sweet on Wonderful Charm but this is a cracking race and I can't see this being so clear cut. Meister Eckhart has some decent form over hurdles and, although this is his first public appearance as a chaser, he is clearly bred to be a chaser (there's even a touch of royalty back in the pedigree). Third Intention also has some good group form behind him. If Wonderful Charm wins this impressively then hat's off to everyone on him. Personally, I don't think his form matches up to the other two named and, whilst he couldn't have done more than win easily, this is a different cup of tea. Good luck to all who are on; hope he wins for you.

Just watched the Rupert Lamb race at Naas and was struck by how awkward he looked at his fences. I know some on the forum have experience of riding horses and I would be interested in their explanation for this. It seemed that he stuttered into every fence a bit like a track athlete who can't get their run up sorted in long/triple jump. Ironically at the last when he hit top speed he met it perfectly and came up lovely. Is it just a lack of experience or do some horses just naturally jump better than others.

    1.30 Wincanton

    Kim Tian Road 25/1

Although this looks a very tough mares handicap hurdle, I think Martin Hill's unexposed 7 year old Kim Tian Road looks on a winnable mark of 117 and with the step up to 2m6f sure to suit I'm hopeful of a big run. Formerly with David Marnane, Kim Tian Road showed some decent form in bumpers (disappointing over hurdles) before joining Martin Hill where she shaped well on her stable debut when 3rd behind Al Ferof (understandably completely outclassed by that rival) in January 2011. I've absolutely no clue what happened to her but she was absent for 775 days before her last start when scoring in fine style over 19f at Exeter in a Mares Novice event in what was a superb training performance. Held up at the rear of the field, Kim Tian Road was quite keen and free for a lot of the contest. Under Hadden Frost, Kim Tian Road swung into the home straight in 4th and after jumping the final flight a couple of lengths down she asserted in the run in to score by 2L from Alder Mairi who is a horse I like that has been narrowly beaten in a Mares Listed hurdle subsequently. The well beaten 3rd (and reopposing at 3lb worse terms) Emilys Flyer has also franked the form strongly scoring 3 times subsequently and it was a really impressive performance given the massive absence. On the abck of that run, Kim Tian Road made a successful handicap debut off a mark of 109 over 2m1f at Exeter back in April when sauntering to a 9L victory and although that was a poor race that looks a weak contest she won as she liked that day. Kim Tian Road disappointed on her final performance when pulling up at Newton Abbott back in June in a very hot Novice hurdle but Martin Hill said the ground was way too quick and I'm putting a line through that run. Returned to handicap ranks today, a mark of 117 is just 8lb above that of her emphatic victory and although this is a much, much harder race I think she can cope with the step up in class. Jeremiath McGrath takes the ride and a very handy 3lb off and with Martin Hill in very good form at present I'm hopeful of a good run at a big price.
