This race is unfortunately indicative of the lack of depth in racing now that Frankel has gone to stud.

The only horse I see as a bet is Farhh, who at 9/2, rates as a very strong each way bet for me. His Frankel form is there for all to see. He's also run well behind Moonlight Cloud, So You Think and Nathaniel. He might be better over 10f but I can't see three horses finishing in front of him. To be fair to him he's also quite lightly raced and there could be more to come.
 
I've be very impressed by Declaration Of War to date but this is a huge step up in class and I think his price is very short.
 
I have been waiting for a long time (and I know TopClass has been as well) for Jedward to support blinkers and they are applied for the first time tomorrow in the 2.50 Thirsk. She's been pulled twice recently (declared for blinkers on both occasions) as the ground was too quick and it may be a similar story tomorrow.
 
14.05 Newbury- Harris Tweed- 11/4

One of my favourite horses on the flat. The way he covers the ground with his massive strides like no other is extraordinary. . This horse contains a lot of class even at the tender age of 6 , he has one a couple of G3's up his sleeve. Most definitely goes best when fresh the last 3 seasons his 1st run of the season has read 131 and that third was behind St Nicholas Abbey & Allied Powers who he has beaten ever since (allied powers). He has some decet form from last year behind the likes of Red Cadeaux, this years Yorkshire cup winners Glens Diamond. You can excuse his last run when last of 10 to hazel lavery And tomorrows field doesnt really look to have a lot in depth, with the main danger is Gallipot- who did run well least year but we dont know if there is more to come. Harris Tweed is definatley better than this listed company and with Richard Hughes on board my boy can take gold!
 
14.40 Newbury- Hallelujah- 12/1

Imo the most unexposed horse running tomorrow- This 5 year old mare has only had 6 races in her career- She made huge progress last year when coming 3rd in a Group 3 beating the likes of Sentaril & Margot Did and before that winning quite a strong handicap- Out of her 6 run career, her record reads 112138- It is easy to forgive her last run in listed company- watching the race she did not get in to a good position and was held on for too long, She is the only horse in the field to run in a Group 3. With Hayley back on board she should appreciate the ground and a big run is expected and at 12/1 a very decent e/w price too it will be like printing money
 
Hillstar is out tomorrow. I don't fully know what's happening at Stoutes right now because Dream Wild was smashed on Thursday from 11/10 into 1/2 before failing to place in a handicap off of 80. Meanwhile, Pavlosk who's rumoured to be not as good as Dream Wild, obliges today in a listed contest. Try to make sense of that.

Anywho, Hillstar is very highly thought of and it'll be interesting to see how he goes. 6/4 is much skinnier that I'd hoped but bookies are wary after his price was annihilated LTO when, similar to Dream Wild, he failed to oblige. Fingers crossed for a drift as he's expected to go in.
 
yawn flat racing yawn.......DOWN ACE runs tomorrow (4.50 Bangor) and some of you will remember her stunning bumper debut at Cheltenham with great relish, she carries a penalty tomorrow but she could easily be good enough to carry the extra weight. No Timmy Murphy tomorrow but Jason Maguire is an able deputy.
My little flutter tomorrow though is in the form of John Gosden reject TOP BILLING 11-2 2.30 Bangor who ran Guarantee and some other decent sorts very close on the level. He has looked every inch a horse running for a handicap mark in his three hurdles thus far and now tackling handicap company for the first time he also steps up in trip. Everything about his pedigree suggests that this will suit and I expect him to go very close. Irrelevant fact about him, Juddmonte paid £320,000 for him OUCH! £1949 to the winner tomorrow and it could well be him!

Quite like the look of Baltic Knight at Newmarket too <ok>

Hillstar most likely bumped into one LTO. I'd be keen on it to win tomorrow but at 6/4 it's easy enough to just let it run.
 
Interesting puzzle to solve the Lockinge. Declaration of War has done all his winning with soft in the going description so he 's not for me. Cityscape could be the answer but not sure and its first time up for him. Farhh seems better at further to me. Beauty Parlour is an interesting one and Cecil may well be able to work his magic with this fllly and may regret overlooking her. Aljamaheer is held in very high regard but was disappointing last run so I cant have him even if trainer is in good form. I like the look of Chile the Kite. Was heavily gambled on last time and ran hanging right with head carried high. Head gear fitted this time and I reckon this is gonna bring some improvement. Ryan Moore on board too so he'll do for me each way at 33/1 at present.
 
Salutation 3:15 Newbury not a fan of collateral form though shows prices between this and fav all wrong, impressive LTO even in weak race - must be EW steal at least 15/2 PP
 
3.50 Newbury (A GROUP 1 with 13 RUNNERS- HOORAY!)

FARHH 5/1 (NAP)

This horse is the only Group 1 horse in the field. Cityscape has proven time and again he isn't, and Declaration Of War beat none other than 45-raced 6 year old handicapper BOLD KATY QUILL last time out.

Beauty Parlours best form was a 1 length defeat of UP in the French 1000 (<doh>)

The concern with Farhh is that he is trained by Saeed Bin Suroor who has been in terrible form and there is talk of the horse needing the run, but SBS had his first winner for ages last night at Newmarket and hopefully it marks the turning of a corner!

Narrowly denied by Nathaniel and desperately unlucky to have not got to So You Think in the Prince Of Wales having had no run whatsoever, plus the 7L form behind Frankel at both 8f and 10f means this is a serious animal if fully tuned.

It is a piss poor field and should be a great opportunity for Godolphin to gain their 2nd Group 1 of the season.




If you need cover- ALJAMAHEER 20/1 is your horse. With different luck his form figures could see him having won his last 4 on the spin. If he comes on for reappearance I fancy him to place in this <ok>
