Afternoon all - still doesn't seem right to call it Ladbrooke Trophy day... It doesn't look the greatest of renewals so I've gone with a speculative ew punt on Black Corton. Good luck everyone
Fascinating mares race there and very interesting to look at the body language of the 2 jockeys coming to the last hurdle. Harry Cobden really asked Posh Trish up and she jumped it immaculately whereas Nico looked to be ****ting himself on Lust For Glory, totally uncertain and she jumped it slowly and poorly. I think the best horse won though.
Dan I was just thinking the same. Some were on here slating him recently. Think he’s a dark horse this winter.
hi all! newbury,12 45: KILBRICKEN STORM had to work much harder than expected on his chase debut, but he fought on well in the end,so i d rather be positive about his attitude.he could have a vital experience edge over his rivals,so he gets a narrow vote today.. fairyhouse,12 50: TIMEFORWEST is a mare,i already followed very closely in britain, and she made a bright start for her new yard in a tougher contest.so,lots to like about her here today..
Nico dithering again at the last (effect of being out injured for a while?) but Santini's class got him home a shade cosily in the end. Impressive.
Watching the telly this pm so here are some entertaining bets. Who's My Jockey Ballymoy Elegant Escape Top Gamble Big River Don't laugh...
Used to love my trips to Newcastle with my Mum on 'Fighting Fifth' day. Early train from Edinburgh, walk about Eldon Square then Metro to Four Lanes End. We would have something to eat in a Working Men's Club then catch the shuttle to the track. One year my Mum backed the first five winners (I backed the first four and gave up - drunk); pretty sure it was the year Brown's Gazette fell. Shuttle and metro back to town centre for dinner and drinks in American diner then a wee carouse ending with Yates. Train, kip, home! A perfect day!
newbury,1 50: ive backed PADLEYOUROWNCANOE already twice this season, and he ran two solid races so far,so surely possible, there might be more to come today,at least e w.. newcastle,2 05 FIGHTING FIFTH HURDLE most surely wise to concentrate on the big three here, but although we dont know yet, exactly how good SUMMERVILLE BOY is,i can see him running a big race here today.so,if alls well today, should go very well..
Fascinating to see what Samcro and Summerville Boy will do against Buvuer D'Air...maybe Samcro with race fitness can edge it? A watching brief though for me... In the Ladbrokes trophy have backed Elegant Escape each way plus each way on Black Corton. Good luck all...
Newbury 1-50 Speedo Boy 2-25 Global Citizen 3-00 Black Corton ew 3-35 Lady Buttons Newcastle 2-05 Buveur D'air NAP 3-20 Big River My comp picks, and actual bets, but now seeing Newbury's conditions I would desert Speedo Boy in favour of Champ. Lady Buttons has become my cliff horse and I really think that Black Corton has a very good chance despite top weight.
