Nass, I think that BetFred are tight fisted *****. The damage they've done themselves is amazing, maybe they think that there is no such thing as bad publicity. It make you wonder what kind of people run the main office. Why didn't they just balance their books. It is called bookmaking after all. I don't think that BetFred are alone when it comes to sticking it to the punter though. As long as they have a get out clause as an option, there is nothing IBAS can do. In fact IBAS seem to do little more than endorse the actions of the betting houses.
As for Barney Curley, he can't be blamed for doing what has been done for centuries. It is almost impossible to be the only person in the know. So of course others close to the family and stable, are going to want to take a swipe at the bookies. But Mr. Curley doesn't come out of this smelling like a rose. Did he give a damn for the poor bastard who had a few quid on the horses who were going around just to get a price blow out on "hit" day. Sure he could say that they were running on their merit, despite the fact that he'd dropped them into races he knew were not in the horse's best interests. I think that the powers that be, in some cases, are toothless tigers. How many times have we done money, knowing after the event was over, that we might as well have just flushed the money down the toilet?
If the events of most race days are to be used as a guide line, Barney Curley's family deserve to be paid.

3.10 Newmarket
Bennandonner 33/1
Although his trainer Mike Murphy said Bennandonner would struggle off his mark of 90 (now dropped to 89) after his last race, I still think he is vastly overpriced. He is only 2lb higher than his winning 2 starts ago and his last run can be discounted as he was badly drawn and couldn't race in way he would like. The form of his win has worked out nicely enough, with the 6th winning off the same mark and the 7th going down by 0.69L and a neck off the same mark in his only 2 starts since. LTO he was again drawn badly and had to sit out the back and did most of his good work late. However, he is a horse that likes to be ridden prominently and despite going down by 7L, I still think it was an excellent display as he was coming from off the pace.
Today Benanadonner finally gets a good draw which should allow him to break well and race prominently as he likes to. Martin Lane back on board, conditions should be fine and with a bit of money coming and my hangover getting worse I think i'll leave it at that!

3.10 Newmarket World Heritage 50/1 beaten by Claremont in a Group 3 race on Good to Soft when trained by Andre Fabre has been running in very nice company and not really show much, dropped in class and distance today on going that will suit he is worth a EW shout for me

I think we might see something pretty special in the Super Sprint. Either way, I'm putting in a $200 offer for Eureka. I wonder if they'll sell him?
I hope you're right about Kirthill MILBC because I did it in doubles with my 3 selections. Would link things up nicely if Lay Time and Kirthill both go in.
