Decorated Knight definitely looks massively over priced against these 3yos. 2 G1 wins this year, and ran well at Ascot last time. So he'll do for me at 10/1.
Love to see Barney Roy win here - he's a really likeable sort, lovely looker and I think the step up will really suit him. No cash down though, still not betting.
Crowley relieved more than anything I reckon - came swinging on the bit and nearly got beat. Mighty, mighty run from Barney Roy.
Just goes to show though that these 3yos are a mediocre bunch. When you look at how well Highland Reel beat Ulysees. I think these 3yo are along way behind the best older horses. And il be suprised if any of them beat the older horses in a G1 this season.
Pricewise 0/73 runners, i know he has to think outside the box and go for a bit of value but that's a pretty poor return, will he make it to 100?!!
Just got in there too see Tigris River winning easily for Joseph. Wonder will he be off to Galway? Always struck me as a horse who has a bit of class. He's only 6 I see as well. May still have improvement to come.
I thought this was the right place to put a couple of anecdotes about my journey home from Sandown... It is July is it not? I could have been mistaken for thinking it was the middle of the football season on my train back to the car from Esher. There was a bunch of about 8 guys in knee-length shorts and trainers (obviously not been in the members!), most of whom were evidently Chelsea fans. They started out chanting things at one of their brethren who was a “Gooner”, which is pretty standard fare. There was also one amongst them whose team used to play at White Hart Lane. They began singing “Spurs are on their way to Wembley” in a fashion that would have made Chas & Dave cringe but would have got the judges’ vote in X-Factor. You would have thought that they would have been exchanging details of what winners they had backed or losers they had lost on but clearly it was just a day out on the sauce. Driving back up the M1, I was only doing about 65 as I was in no hurry, when I was passed by a Megabus. The bus turned off onto the M18, which was my turn as well. Curious as to how quick he was going, I speeded up to 70 but the Megabus was still going away from me! I always thought they fitted buses with speed restrictors but I guess not. Sadly the Megabus turned off at Doncaster so I had no opportunity to find out just how much he was speeding – must have been running late. I wonder if he stuck to 50 through the average speed check cameras. There are two big sets of ‘roadworks’ with 50mph limits on the M1 and both are signposted as being “smart motorway” installations. Have they decided to put computers in charge of the motorways because the motorists are a load of brain-dead numpties that cannot be left to their own devices? Clearly they do not have anybody very clever working on their “smart motorway” because there was a sign that said the roadworks were for 10.5 miles with a time of 20 minutes. Now even if I knock off the half mile, at 50mph I will do 10 miles in 12 minutes (10mi / 50mph x 60mins). If I am able to drag myself out of bed in the morning, I am at Market Rasen on Sunday – have not been there in years even though it is my ‘local’ track from when I was a kid. It does not look a very appealing card...
