The last update I got coming from the Moore yard which was about two weeks ago is that they're still only about 70/30 in favour of sending Sire De Grugy to Cheltenham so today will probably be the decider. They still expect him to be winning today but if it gets into a battle then expect something similar to what you saw with SS. I'm told the horse is 100% for today, as Stick said they wouldn't run him otherwise. Ive backed Karinga Dancer but I've done so playing for second place, if SDG was any sort of price I would be on today
Sire De Grugy at evens is actually quite tempting. The fact that McCoy prefers dodgepot Mr Mole to the sound jumping Uxizandre tells me there isn't anything in the field capable of troubling the champion 2 miler (no Dodging Bullets in other words). The only threat is therefore match fitness. While I was keen to take on Sprinter Sacre as I always distrust horses that put in one or two exceptional performances, SdG doesn't come into that category at all, having been consistently top class before his injury. Yep, talked myself into it - load the gun at evens. None of the runners in the Denman Chase are worthy of the title of the race. All have doubts about them but something has to win I suppose. Perhaps we'll see a classic McCoy/Johnson battle up the straight, with Taquin Du Seuil just getting the better of Coneygree for a resurgent O'Neil yard. Perhaps not though. Vasco de Ronceray e/w at 40/1 in the Betfair, Are You Having a Laugh, Bookmakers 24 Mug Punters Nil Hurdle.
I refuse to let another Saturday afternoon be ruined by a steady stream of losing horses so having put my competition picks up I am waving the Sir Barney Chuckles "No Bet" banner and will watch the big races with interest but no more. Best of luck to all of you brave souls venturing a wager
Cracking couple days sport ahead to enjoy.hopfully old Eire will put in a decent shift against the italians in zee old rugger.two bets for me today: Nass 3.05-really sweet on Strongpoint who looks 'well in' over fences.very happy to take 7/2 this morning. Newbury 1.50-Milan Bound (3/1) JohnJoe yard finding abit of form of late so taking abit of chance with this one. Will also prob back Calipto
Big market mover this morning.Got abit of value earlier and the money still coming in for it :dollar and dream 16s to 4s in Nass 4.15.No real form to go on but this matters nought when you see who the trainer is
Never heard of him Timeform Comments Dollar And A Dream (IRE)12th of 13 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, soft, 25/1) 41 days ago. Yard in good form. Hood on 1st time, tongue strap on 1st time. Worth noting if subject of market support. Good Luck
Token bets in the Betfair Hurdle: On Tour (well backed, selection of Pricewise, will probably finish tailed off!), Cheltenian E/W (4th in last year's race, have doubts now he's back hurdling).
Will be interesting today if the Sire returns to his level from last year. Heard various reports on the severity of the injury, I'm no expert on it, so I'll let my eyes judge today what they've got left. Certainly appears an easier task than Sprinter returned to but its no gimme all the same. Uxizandre's no worldbeater but is a fair yardstick. Don't know what the heck to say about Moley other than the scoundrel deprived me of a fair few quid last season lol I enjoy watching him though, something about those big soft bridle horses like My Tent that I do enjoy! Suppose one difference between Sprinter and Sire is that Sire usually finds plenty when asked, he's not Sprinter he won't win on the bridle. Will he be asked for maximum effort, highly unlikely. He'd be a braver mans bet than I'd want to take. My no bet banner also flies, waiting for tomorrow!
NB 3.35 A good race, nice prize and a big field = worth a punt. Ballybolley (4 win) Activial (5 win, 6 place) all @ bfsp
Afternoon Just watching the North London derby But here's my selections for today New 1.50 araldur ew New 3.35violet dancer ew New 1.50 Milan bound New 2.25 coney grew New3.00 Mr mole patent Good luck
Disappointing that Sign of a Victory doesn't go, but switching to one of my "cliff" horses Cheltenian ew. Got 40's last night so hopeful. Milan Bound in the 1-50
Like others above i've a fancy for Taquin De seuil. Took 5s and jonjo is flying. Haven't picked in the betfair yet v much leaning to Calipto. Where is the confidence behind wicklow brave coming from? He has consistantly dissapointed. Am I missing something?
That's how to do it. Know how long it takes your horse to get from A to B and challenge the others to get there any quicker. Brilliant
