Oh to be in the know. So we learn after the race that Far Above is faster this year than last year. I hadn't heard that
Gosden in again with Daarik, He must be creeping towards a 30% strike rate and hopefully that improves throughout the day.
Arizona, Military March and Al Suhail are all drifting. Wichita seems the one for money but he looks a bit short to me now. I feel Kameko is too big at 10/1 and while his chance rests pretty much with the one win on Newcastle's artificial surface he appeals more than some in this field. I am sure O'Brien will have an eye on Kameko as well as his own runners because the Balding horse tore his Derby prospects a new one in that re-arranged Futurity race and if he runs poorly here it doesn't reflect well on his staying types. Tomorrow I took the chance that Boomer may run well. She was behind Quadrilateral and Love in the Fillies Mile but she looked to tire that day on the softened ground and hopefully she has a chance at 14/1. 2000 Guineas Kameko 10/1 1000 Guineas Boomer 14/1 Singles and an each-way double
Well Volkan Star gets the better of a disappointing Waldkonig, but the highest rated horse in the field was miles clear, bubble well and truly burst and you wouldnt be taking 100/1 for the Derby never mind 10s on the Gosden horse. 8-10f on proper soft ground on a flatter track should see Waldkonig in a better light but that was a long way below G1 standard.
Pathetic from Waldkonig there. Frankie didn't sound confident beforehand and I didn't like the look of the colt. He seemed pretty scrawny to me and he was never really travelling comfortably. Pretty green when asked but his main problem is that he just isn't good enough and he won't run in the Derby now. The Stopwatch boys went on about his sectionals being faster than the Sprinter Kachy when he won but the sectionals lie in tatters. Oh, well a couple of ante-post bets goosed but I would rather lose small bets at 33/1 and 66/1 than bet at 8/11 to big stakes. Pretty hard to imagine where they will go with Waldkonig now and he will be substituted out of my isolation six to follow at the first opportunity. Al Aasy was rubbish as well and he won't be in the Derby either.
afternoon, fellas! newmarket,3 35:2000 guineas very possible, this will be a one-horse show, but there have been shock winners from time to time in the past,as well as big placed outsiders, and i hope,KENZAI WARRIOR will go close today.ive already won with him last year at salisbury, and his next win was even stronger form,so there might be enough improvement for at least a placer.decent e w player.
Having a really **** day today. Not because my picks are losing but because that is the second horse (and bloody 10/1 ) I initially picked that has won. I also picked Rock Eagle and switched to Deja. Deja is now a NR so will by initial pick win? Probably not now. So was going for Acquitted but too late as they have gone off. Already have PP so guess what will happen
Palace Pier finally gets me off the mark but won't be celebrating at that price. I just knew I'd have to rely on Mum's Tipple
John Gosden has just said Waldkonig ran a solid race today. Great comfort to odds-on backers that will be. Solid you say John? Solid like a turd I say.
