CaptainPops: Fair enough, but I get a much bigger buzz at the Cheltenham Festival......

DanS: Yep, it is with great shame that I have to admit to that too. If the race finishes with no tragedies, horses or riders, then I'm happy. Damn sight more important than whether or not I've backed the winner........

    Morning lads :)

No reason from me Joe - he'll be carrying my dough for sure <ok>

All about Aintree for me today but not necessarily the GN. On His Own and Chicago Grey are my two against the field, but real cash goes on other races.

Cantlow at 7-1? Get on large.
Cry Of Freedom in the tricky looking JS Hurdle 12-1 now but backed at 14's last night
Purple Bay in the equally tricky looking bumper to put his 5th in the Champion bumper behind him and beat the Hendo hotpot with an ew saver on Wilde Blue Yonder.
    Good luck all <ok>

<laugh> I'm glad i'm not the only one! To be honest I've neevr really been that big a fan of the national. I still see it as a bit of a novelty race and get a much bigger buzz ahead of Cheltenham and the big flat days.

Anyway, the most important sporting event of the day takes place at vicarage road at 5PM!

1.45 - Utopie Des Bordes @ 5/1 - Back to ideal trip and although didnt stay ran an admirable 5th behind AFC - A Big run here and i will up my stake on African gold

2.15 - Overturn @ 9/4 to win - Sir De Grugy EW @7/1 - Another who didnt go to Chelters and will appreciate todays ground, ran a belter behind Captain Conan who has now franked that form. Again, if he puts in a big race ill be having more on Cantlow later after he ran him close LTO.
    2.50 - African Gold EW @9/1 - Grand Crus win @7/1 - I think the
Albert Bartlett form will prove to be exceptional this year and given how far the front 3 were in front on top of AFC easy win yesterday he has to be respected and is potentially a huge price. Grand crus is more of a saver, if he puts up a performance we know he is capable of he will cruise this. He gets his ground to suit aswell.

3.25 - Cantlow EW @ 7/1 - Was on him at Chelters and as we all know he looks well in, we'll finally find out today.

4.15 - Chicago Grey EW(NAP) @14/1 - Joncol EW @ 50/1 - Auroras Encore EW @ 100/1 - Chicago grey as everyone knows is probably the best handicapped horse in the race, fingers crossed he gets a clear path all the way round. Auroras encore looks dangerous on last years Scottish National run.

5.10 - Local Hero EW @ 20/1 - As mentioned earlier in the thread he takes my interest in this race.

5.45 - Dakar Run EW @ 16/1(NB) - Backed him on both races prior to this and keeps on improving, owners have mentioned that he has a great chance and no surprise to see him already backed into 8/1

    3.25 Aintree Problema Tic 14/1

Won 4 out of 4 on good ground, back down to his last winning mark and wearing first time blinkers. If this isnt a Pipe plot then i dont know what is.

    5.10 Aintree Shotavodka 7/1

Tipped him up on here last time and won very nicely, this is a tougher race and has a 9lb rise but he is still improving at a rate of knots and he can win this

    5.45 Aintree Vago Collonges 14/1

Tistory is very interesting and Purple Bay brings strong form to the table but im convinced that Nicholls has laid this one out for this race. His form over in france is very very strong and he wasnt given a hard race on debut over here but still finished a very good second on ground that was probably too soft. He has been put away since and gets good ground here with Ruby on board im quietly confident about this one today

That could be a great shout on African gold. Looks a very good horse - NTD goes on about the New One but this looks a bit decent too.

Done Reebs <ok> Bet it was a bit annoying watching Master Of The Sea capitulate up the run in yesterday! Looked to be a danger at one point! At Fishers Cross in a different league though to be fair

African Gold and Cantlow double today

A small each way on Won In The Dark as well in the African Gold race, as the horse always seem to outrun its odds at Aintree

The National is a lottery but hope all come back safe and sound, not a proper betting race but my picks for this would be Chicago Grey, Always Waining and Auroras Encore.

Right, my picks for the day and the GN...

    1.45 - Dodging Bullets, 3/1
    2.15 - Alderwood, 9/4
    2.50 - Smad Place, 6/1
    3.25 - Duke Of Lucca, 12/1
    5.10 - Kians Delight, 16/1
    5.45 - Dakar Run, 14/1

Singles and doubles... e/w on the longer odds...

    Grand National bets...
    On His Own, 20/1 AP...
    Rare Bob, 33/1 AP...
    Always Waining, 50/1 AP...

Havnt bet on the race today as i placed my bets a while ago... All three are shorter in the market so im happy i suppose... Just want one of em to come in now...!!!

Good luck to all today, and lets hope for a incident free day and a great day of racing for all to watch... That's most important for the day...<cheers>
