Conduct 4.00 Doncaster Surely Stoute ain't sending an undefeated horse all way up here to just blow cob webs off in this 1m2f race to get ready for the 1m6f Ebor, surely he wants to win!? 5s at mo with Willies!
Dave I like Conduct as well just the fact he is still in training at 5 following a 2 year lay off seems significant to me. He will not be running in the Ebor though as he doesn't qualify as he needed to get a 3rd run before the deadline a couple of weeks ago
Always love the early maidens on a Saturday so have had a little study of them all and have come up with the following- singles and multiples 1.40 Doncaster - CASKELANA 4/1 - Have missed the early price for this one but he is on my GG alert list following a promising effort at Lingfield first time out over 1m. Will appreciate the extra 2f and this £600,000 full sister to Age Of Aquarius should go close today in my opinion. 1.45 Newmarket - GHOSTFLOWER 9/2 - Backed this one on debut and was left pissed off as Barzalona was on this one yet there was late money for the stablemate that won the race with Ajtebi riding. However Ghostflower shaped with promise despite not looking straightforward and with improvement expected should go close. 1.55 Thirsk - OPT OUT 9/2 - I think this one sets the standard on the pick of his form and with the stable flying and better ground expected to suit this looks a good opportunity to break his duck. 2.15 Doncaster - BLUE NOVA 4/1 - Form of her 2nd to Roz (listed winner since) looks decent enough and should progress again..
Something resembling summer weather has arrived, the ground has dried up a bit and what opportunities are there on offer this Saturday? Loads of large field sprint handicaps. The bookies must be getting their largest satchels out as they head to the courses. If you have backed Izzi Top in the Nassau Stakes, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that I think she will win. The bad news is that I have actually backed her today and my record putting money on her is 0-2. I would not back her first time up at Newmarket as in the paddock she looked like she would need the race and I know that John Gosden is not one to over work his horses before their debuts – so she duly bolted up. I should have backed her at York but the price drifted too late after I had left the ring and the heavy ground and short odds meant no play in Ireland.
