King Of Athens was backed but he looked as slow as a barge there. Never looked likely and Ryan Moore was hardly any help in the saddle. In the end King Of Athens was beaten further in this maiden than he was in the Coventry Stakes and his 91 RPR looks rather fanciful after that effort. None of the fancied ones really got into it. Golden Souk was halved to 4/1 from 8/1 and tried to make it but he came down and folded like a balsa wood Jenga stack in an Earthquake. Berkshire Rocco filled the same spot as last time in 4th, while Great Ambassador ran a solid race in 3rd. Perhaps a Nursery will be next for the Beckett horse. A typical poor Saturday from a results point of view. I'll complete the agony with Mahabra Milliair at 11/4 now.
