With so much racing today, an in-depth analysis of everything would be Gettysburg Address length; so here is the abridged version:
Haydock:
2:00 – there are confusing form lines here as Talmada was second in the Middleton Stakes at York with Bragging behind, whilst KLEO was just touched off by Bragging at Newmarket and is taken to improve upped in trip.
2:35 – dropped back to his favourite trip, ALJAMAAHEER can reverse Lockinge form with a couple of opponents (Breton Rock, Cable Bay) and hold form with some others (Captain Cat, Master Carpenter, Top Notch Tonto) provided there is no more rain.
3:45 – unbeaten Limato will be a short-priced favourite as he holds most of the field on actual form or various form lines; however, there has to be a concern that the ground is against him so this is one just to watch.
Newmarket:
2:45 – could generate some interesting pointers for the Derby: Nafaqa was never a factor in the Dante whilst Peacock was runner-up in the Feilden (where Mustadeem was well behind) so they all need to uphold Golden Horn form; Tannaaf may not have got home in the Chester Vase and drops in trip but another chance is given to SNOANO after he disappointed at Sandown in a small field (Frankie may try to steal this as there is no obvious pacesetter).
3:20 – Watersmeet hung badly here last time, his previous 2015 wins were not on turf and he may have to battle stablemate Notarised for the lead; Penhill just won last time and has 7lb more so preference is for MODERNISM after his easy win in a lower grade.
4:30 – Mehdi is on a long losing run, Red Pike was not beaten far in a bunch finish at Ascot but likes a bit of cut whilst ZANETTO was a decent second in a better race at Goodwood.
5:05 – Islington’s daughter Angel Vision could be thrown in on handicap debut but is very short priced; Harbour Patrol and Montefalcon try new trips but SAHAAFY was just touched off last time in a similar race.
5:40 – Captain Morley likes some cut; if Sea The Skies is allowed to dictate, he could steal this as he is lightly raced; however, London Citizen also missed 2014 and ran well on his return but MYTHICAL MADNESS can go on from his Windsor win despite the 6lb rise up the ratings.
