The statistics speak for themselves - Ballotelli 2 Germany 1 I also enjoyed the "Germany have won more cups combined that italy". Funny that - i seem to remember him being very fond of head to heads when it came to horse racing
Great stuff, Dan, thanks for clip. As you say, shades from days gone by? Could easily have 'engaged' myself in battle here as I still have a BBC password, but what the hell, I've done it all before during a major tournament which, in the end, was a total stalemate, whatever he says. I then requested the BBC mods to delete the whole goddamn mess as both of us could barely think straight in the end. They obliged, BTW. I make this point: How on earth can he say, and I quote 'our England' when he is more Greek than English, and I don't give a damn about his birth certificate either. I don't reside in the UK, as you well know, but I am English as fish-and-chipe, for bloody sure. He is very pro-Germany too, in a rather odd and dubious sort of way, but that's his privilege, of course. Hmmm, on reflection this might bring him back here? In that case I'd better scarper quick.................... Oh yes, repeating myself here, but I would also say to him, this is the eighth time in a row that Germany have lost to Italy in as many attempts. Put that in your water pipe chum...............Guess I'd better shove this on that blog if not already closed..................
Jongleur - he had a Germany Spain and Germany Portugal final backed so i suspect wallet was ruling head........ Just out of interest, what did the German media make of Thursday night?
Have got one ready though that I'm very interested in: 2.00 Newmarket VIEWPOINT 25/1 e.w (NB) The great thing about having Michaelangelo in this race is that he has exaggerated the value of the so called 'outsiders' in this race. Let me be clear- Michaelangelo is a horse I rate very, very highly. However, I would think that 10f is round about the minimum distance he ought to be campaigned at and if he gets beaten today, if you have a bit of spare change kicking around I'd back him antepost for the St Leger. Really big talent, will keep on improving, but will do so up in distance so that is why today I take him on. Viewpoint smacks of a Richard Hannon ploy for a sales race. We have seen him do it before- the likes of TELL DAD showing glimpses in maidens and then stepping up to land a big pot. Viewpoint was a bit of an eyecatcher in the really good early season maiden won by MARINER'S CROSS. To be honest, he was very green around half way and had to be nudged and encouraged but when the penny was dropping late on, he satayed on to be a never nearer 7th of 20 over 1m and was pretty strong at the finish. It was not easy conditions that day either. That form there, if you could guarantee improvement, would put this horse right in the frame today because I'd suggest he is a horse who has the ability to be rated 95 which puts him right alongside the market principles here. The great thing is that he is not the finished article and they have looked to be educating him since, Ted Durcan getting him to run on nicely for 2nd at Lingfield last time behind a nice John Gosden prospect HILL STREET (himself was 4th behind Mariners Cross in that early season maiden). The step up in trip WILL really suit and you can ignore the one 10f run on 2nd start as he was clearly not himself that day. This is the first time he encounters quick ground and I think he will be very much at home back at Newmarket today with less testing conditions. Looks a very interesting prospect at a mile and a quarter and massively underestimated, especially given the record of this yard when it comes to prizemoney races.
afternoon guys, havent be on for a few days but noticed that yesterday was Toppy's birthday so happy belated mate and tipping up a 20/1 winner, that happens about as often as it is your birthday only joking i fancy RAYVIN BLACK 2.40 chester had a promising run at york last time so hoping it will bring home the money today i know im going against cats gabrial the hero so i might do a little rfc. good luck to those who play today
Newcastle, 2.15 Our Jonathan 5/2 Fancy a couple of M.Johnston to go close in 2.45 Tajneed 11/1 3.55 Fulbright 5/1 Going to try and speculate with a bit E/W in the Pitmans Derby in what is going to be a real slog today. Halla San 40/1 Has a line with Gulf Of Naples at Ripon over 2m, received 10lbs and got a 5L beating on heavy ground.
I part own him and he is running at the Curragh instead that is why they call me RainbowView - no being serious is he taking his chance at Newcastle or the Curragh hah
Newmarket 4.05: Obviously Cats has given us a heads up with regards to the Hills and Cecil runners and with the Cecil horse apparantly being educated more than all out to win today I think Godolphin have a good opportunity and I think the Frankie Dettori pick INAAD can land the spoils at 6/1. The stablemate ridden by Barzalona will come on for the debut 4th but it disn't look especially strong form. Inaad has a lovely pedigree, by New Approach out of an unraced horse out of a pretty smart French horse CELUREON SKY. She showed glimpses of being top class, she ran in the Arc won by Montjeu and then on her next start was a very good 2nd in the Breeders Cup filly and mare turf of 1999. She was a winner on debut over in France, making all, and Dettori is usually very good on prominently ridden debutants and gets them in the right positions if they are good enough. I think this will end up a really nice maiden and I think this is the pick of Godolphins three and I suspect we will see them hit top stride as we head into July.
Difficult to tell whether Stall 1 will be a good or a bad draw for bold Sir Mark's Motivado in the Pitman's Derby, but it's certainly better than being drawn in the car park. It's also guess work as to how he'll go on the ground, but that applies to half the field. What's more, there's no way of telling how the operation he's had since his last run might effect the son of a Derby winner. In fact I've almost talked myself out of backing him. But I have placed my faith in his trainer many times over the years, and been rewarded often enough to trust that when he aims a four year old at a major prize over a trip 2 furlongs further than he's been before, the horse is probably even better handicapped than he looks. He was certainly improving at the back end of last season. Holding up well in the market too.
Michelangelo the class act in the field - happy just to watch this race though - can't be backing him at 10/11
Good horse that - still plenty left to work on. Really nasty fall for the champ hope he is ok - horse seemed fine
Really like the look of Confessional in the next at Newcastle. He had no luck at all last time out in the Epsom dash 14/1 is a good price imo E.W
City Image in the next fro me at Newmarket. Incidentally, just been looking at first scorers for tomorrow night. 25s on Montolivo seems very big so i've backed him.
