Done a formline forecast on Muirhead/Bideford in the big race at Ascot. Also backed Via Gall in the 3:00

    afternoon all,

what a great day for the gf to be meeting her mother in town. what great racing, I forget how much I prefer the flat. so many fancies today, I like cantlow in the wetherby 2.45, big time billy in the 1.55 ascot and elsafeer in that handicap at ascot. I really like Tim vaughan, think he's on his way up and will start getting more Saturday winners this year.

    good punting

SALACIA 13.30 Newmarket had a very gentle introduction behind stablemate KAILANI. Up with the leaders most of the way and just kept on under hands and heels. The winner was ridden by Frankie who today takes the mount on the selection. Beautifully bred and is a confident selection today.

<laugh> If it hadn't been for a bloody 14/1 newcomer Salacia would have won the race by 7l and made me look good(ish).

no bets for me today just watching again.

was it just me or did Frankie not ride out Ecliptic to the line for 3rd? I'd be fairly annoyed if a had a PP on with Ecliptic in it.

    3.15 Newmarket

    Benadonner 50/1

Looks an absolutely ridiculous price! Benandonner could run an absolute shocker but at the price I am certainly willing to take a chance as he is back to the same mark of 87 which he won over C+D in May in this class and under todays jockey. Benandonner has a decent draw in stall 14 and trainer Mike Murphy had a winner last night so the yard could be coming to bounce back into a bit of form. He disappointed on the AW LTO as favourite but was on eye catching staying on 4th in Ayr when adopting his far from traditional front running tactics. The form of that race looks very strong with the 2nd Primaeval running a cracking 2nd behind Edinburgh Knight in a huge field off a 3lb higher mark in a Class 2 and the 3rd Vainglory winning a Class 2 off the same mark on his next start. If able to get a prominent position early than Benandonner could make 50/1 look ridiculous in an hours time

I think there is a very good value bet to be had in the last at Newmarket.

    Newmarket 5.00 Amitola 25-1 EW

    Benandonner ran awfully!

I had a look at the bumper at Ascot and two caught my eye in the shape of Cecconi 17/2 and Population 8/1. Warren Greatrex has a decent record in bumpers and this looks a likely type on breeding so I think the 17/2 looks well overpriced. Population is a debutant for a new trainer John Ferguson who looks to have a very nice future in the sport. He was a former bloodstock advisor to Darley and Population was there until the last declaration stage of the Cheltenham Bumper and looks a very taking flat pedigree. Ferguson has been in very good form recently so the 8/1 available also looks huge

In my tracker for ages Bluesky and although on a very good mark I think she has completely lost her way for the time being. If money comes I'd be interested but she will have to show me a bit more before I back her

Bluesky9: Well done with Amitola. Ruddy hell, I really thought she was going to win but it was hard to tell as they were so wide apart. <applause>

Thanks swanhills, happy with the place at 25-1 but it could not have helped having to run it's own and if it were racing in the main group i feel may have been able to win. It's a decent horse that has now dropped to a good mark and come to form so i will go in again next time it runs if they get it out again soon.
