14:25 Goodwood - Alemaratalyoum (Quite a mouthful this one's name! Handles heavy ground, 7f probably ideal, drawn 2, and has the form to do well in this event. 9/2 best price at time of writing, doubt if SP will be more) Good luck today guys!
Watan a non-runner so leaving that race alone and switching to backing Battered 11/2 each way in the Goodwood 2.25pm race...champion jockey on board and tumbling down the ratings.
I am not that keen on Ralph Beckett from a punting point of view as there seems little value at times. He also has a moderate record with good looking 2YO's when they race at 3YO. Very different ground today and Pomelo has run no race at all there. With the easy to back Isabella Giles trotting in by seven lengths the form seems impossible to take at face value. I suspect it won't stack up when the ground is better.
Pomelo raced too freely, and I'm sure if Bentley had the chance to re-ride this race he wouldn't make the same decision. Come on Summerghand you old money pit
Went to the doctor's and said I have a speech problem doc - I can't pronounce F's and TH's He said well, you can't say fairer than that I note Bentley didn't use that stupid tatctic next race, and duly won, racing up the middle Alounak next, with everything going as expected so far - expectations zero!
Don't worry Reebs..not the only one! .Poor from me today too. My two darts didn't hit the jackpot today...
Will have a bit on Sword Beach in the 16:45 at Goodwood. Man, this is a difficult track! Alemaratalyoum seemed to be in a pocket all the way. Will certainly give him another chance NTO.
3.35 Duke of Hazzard 13/2 Progressive last season and youd imagine coming back for this race would have been one of his main targets given his excellent course record. If you forget his last run which was too bad to be true, he had been placed behind horses who went on to win G1s in Mohaather and Space Blues, the latter when a good 2nd at this course over an inadequate 7f, hed probably be half the price today. He has ground question marks like most of them, including Regal Reality who is probably the best horse in the race. Century Dream was a great bet first time out this year and while he likes soft ground, its different circumstances here and hes up against better horses who are race fit. He was comfortably beaten on heavy ground twice last season, including in a listed race, he is probably past his best now so no gimmie in this field and he was 11/1 first time out compared to 3/1 today. Right favourite but not much value. Duke Of Hazzard ran well enough on heavy in the French Guineas and he appeals most to me at the prices in a minefield of a race.
About the most entertaining thing about the racing today is Ruby on Racing TV saying how ****e every single race at Wexford is Poor fayre for a Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday looks even worse
Fox Chairman supporters will be pleased to read he doesn't carry my shilling. Well, he sort of does as I have him in a rfc with Tinandali ridden by the Head Waiter Come on Frank, bring me a return for a change!
4 winners for Holly so far and 3 more rides. No doubt someone will be happy to lay her for the rest of the afternoon
whale oil beef hooked - broke me duck finally! Good luck those of you following Rudy's Grouseman at Windsor. I'm out
Sometimes best to keep it simple and go with the obvious, Century Dream the only soft ground horse in the race, rest of the field was struggling from a long way out.
