Nicholls "I can improve him massively" Very interesting quote about Pearl Swan, going to get even better!
Oddie, to lose a race nowadays the jockey needs to actually jump on to the back of the other horse beating him about the head with a large weapon otherwise result stands. Saw one at Kempton on Thursday that defied belief how stewards made no change. To be fair in this case i think i would let the result stand.
Don't suppose anyone has a stream link. looked in the usual places but no luck. Really wanted to see a replay. Can always watch later i suppose.
By the way- there was the tale of how Cheltenham is utterly unique. You MUST stay well at Cheltenham. So fans of Al Ferof and Peddlers Cross- therer is hope at least against Sprinter Sacre! (Even though he might just be something special) I forgot to give you my Irish horses for the day: LEOPARDSTOWN: 1.45: THOUVA 10/1 e.w Shaped very much like a step up in trip was needed on debut and is immediately upped to 2 and a half miles today having chased home the very talented Jover and Allure of Illusion. This might not be anywhere near as strong and I'm very happy e/w at double figure odds. 2.15: SIR DES CHAMPS He MIGHT drift a little bit because people are very keen on Hidden Cyclone so if we can get 13 or 15/8, I'd recommend him. I am hopeful of a performance that shows him to stay on strongly as I want him to go to the RSA Chase rather than the Jewson. Really talented young chaser who needs a trip IMO.
Hidden Cyclone vs Sir Des Champs Toppy some race. Hidden Cyclone for me shame he is not going to chelts
Afternoon gentlemen, well done to the many of you on Pearl Swan. I agree that Nicholls' decision to withdraw Hinterland was very striking. Something I discussed in great detail last night with a friend but we concluded that perhaps Nicholls was using Pearl Swan to gauge where Hinterland is compared to his rivals. I went down to the local betting shop to watch that race and while I was down there I struck a couple of bets. The first, a Cheltenham placepot. £2 staked for the following horses all to place Grumeti That'lldoboy Arieal Diamond Harry Broadbackbob Big Bucks With my other £2 I decided to have a crack at the old Scoop6, something I have never, and will never, come anywhere near close to winning. Despite that, if the following horses do all win there's a pint on me for every single one of you. Yes I know, Generous George WashingTOON That'lldoboy Arieal Big Easy Tidal Bay Shalimar Frometero Broadbackbob Afterthought Lest we not forget Pearl Swan was 3lbs heavier than Grumeti there. That said, as I type, I hear they have reversed the result for interference
The money went straight into my 365 account for winnings on Pearl Swan. Are they allowed to withgdraw it from me? What is their policy on steward enquiries?
Jackies Solitaire beaten in a photo just as the twat ref gives Chelsea the softest penalty you will ever see!!!!! Are you winding me up about Grumeti
Pearl Swan won the opener narrowly for Paul Nicholls at Cheltenham. Tidal Bay and Big Bucks is a solid E.W. double, Tidal Bay is 11 now but won the Arkle for Howard Johnson and this could be his last big race win. So Nicholls has every chance of a treble at Cheltenham. Barry Geraghty has gone to Doncaster but I doubt it's to ride Shakalakaboomboom in the Sky Bet (who I've backed) - maybe to ride Forever Present in the bumper, she cost 210,000euros as a foal and a half-sister to Best Mate.
