Bags of liquidity in the Irish 2000 market, for anyone that likes to trade, Trumpet Major (pricewise selection) is currently 13/2 in a couple of places, a position it should be easy to trade out of.
god so much racing today I can barely keep track, who's running where!? agree with quel re borderlescott 33s too big. also like elusivity off a very strong pace there. and think that in all the rush to see trumpet major as overpriced, which he was, that hermival has been forgotten. also hazelrigg the sod and imperial djay at chester despite a terrible draw. good luck all. someone will have a few today I reckon.
I would not touch either of the Irish Guineas this weekend. On Sunday, the Irish 1000 Guineas ought to be a cake walk for Homecoming Queen, if she is as good as the bare Newmarket form; however, I do not think that Joseph O’Brien will be allowed the uncontested lead that Ryan Moore enjoyed. Defeat for Aidan O’Brien’s filly would surely be the final nail in the coffin of the 1000 Guineas form. The Fugue may have been out and won well since but she is bred to be a middle distance filly and the value of the York form is yet to be proven. In the Irish 2000 Guineas, the wide-open nature of the betting clearly shows that the Newmarket form is viewed with suspicion by the bookies. That unplaced Power is shorter in the market than third Hermival and fourth Trumpet Major is primarily because of the Ballydoyle excuse machine. If Hermival is okay on the ground and he was disadvantaged by racing on the far side at Headquarters he ought to oblige but my feeling is that this year’s first Classic was moderate and Camelot backers may be sweating for a week going into the Derby. If we are prepared to accept the trainer’s word for it, then Bated Breath is the class act in the Temple Stakes and the drop to five furlongs will not inconvenience.
QUARTER MOON what are you on about the final nail in the coffin. Just because Starscope is a moody cow and got beat last time out it doesn't make the form that bad. THE FUGUE ran really well in the guineas and won next time and the 8th home LAUGH OUT LOUD has won since also. Homecoming Queen is very good make no mistake about it - she beat Fire Lilly in the trial - that filly went on to run 5th in the French Guineas (looked a non stayer) and runs again today dropped in trip. UP finished third behind Homecoming Queen in the her trial and went on to finish 2nd in the French guineas and the 5th home AFTER finished 4th at Longchamp also. Good solid form
Not sure the 2000 was that bad QM,although as you say time will tell. Camelot was well on top and going away close home with almost 4l back to the fourth horse over a trip that certainly won't be his optimal. The impression is there will be more to come since he drifted in the betting and was reportedly not fully tuned up.AO'B was hardly bullish beforehand. Not remotely interested in him for the Derby mind you at his current trading position.
Good Morning Another Hot day in Geordieland Two Placepots for me today as per usual: Haydock: Leg 1: Beyond Conceit (1) / Montaser (3) Leg 2: Mabaany (11) / Forest Row (13) / Nemushka (16) / Trail Blaze (17) Leg 3: Sole Power (9) Leg 4: Ertikaan (1) / Azrael (3) / L'ami Louis (7) / Corporal Maddox (8) Leg 5: Courageous (6) / Klynch (7) / Midnight Feat (13) Leg 6: Forceful Appeal (4) / Shahzan (6) / Shesastar (8) 288 @ 5p £14.40 Curragh: Leg 1: Teoirim (10) Leg 2: Liberating (6) Leg 3: Hitchens (2) Leg 4: Trumpet Major (10) Leg 5: Emulous (1) Leg 6: Croi An Or (13) 1 @ £15 £15 I had a nice bet on Michaelangelo yesterday and I am hoping to double up with Grumetiin the Stayers event (3.20) at Goodwood. Should love the ground and just the fact he should have too much class for these. Good luck to all!
I must say i think this is the best day for a bet in a long time, lots of meetings at grade one tracks with some very worthy favourites in some races and some live outsiders in others. It allows you to be selective and to also be punting on quality reasonably reliable horses.......IN theory. Good Luck everyone on here today.
Just putting up what ive gone with in the comp... 2.05 York - Franciscian, 3/1 3.00 Hay - Bated Breath, 3/1 3.20 Good - Life And Soul, 7/1 4.00 Ches - Louis The Pious, 4/1 7.00 Ling - Howyadoingnotsobad, 9/2 Singles, Doubles and a 50p accy... Good luck to all today...
Lucky EW 15 and Accumulator inspired by the forum and one of me own Hong Kong Island 16s Best Terms 14s Daddy Long Legs 11s and Louis the Pious 4s was given this last night and told has great chance and should at least place, been hammerd in to 7/2s from 10s in places stay frosty off to save lifes
5.15 Haydock. Afaal 3-1 Stolen from the morning line I'm afraid but I've had a look and this one looks potentially very well treated off of 81 given the ease with which he won LTO and that the well held 2nd and 3rd are now rated in the 80s as well.
I've backed Best Terms at 18-1 and Born to Sea at 11-1 (Coral this morning) both e/w, each and (rather optimistically) the double
Went for my usual lucky e/w 15 and e/w accy 20/1 - Lord Ofthe Shadows 14:30 Haydock 16/1 - Opera Gal 14:45 Goodwood 9/1 - Secret Witness NAP 15:45 York 12/1 - Beat The Bell 17:00 Goodwood Also taken a patent and e/w accy on 3 horses from here - Daddy Long Legs,Best Terms and Hong Kong Island
Yankee for me today: Curragh 3.15 Power Goodwood 3.20 Grumeti Chester 4.00 Viva Ronaldo Haydock 2.30 Gabrial Also large double on Grumeti and Exceedance (4.50 York)
Put up this at 33s when he won LTO. Price too skinny for me as he may need the run but definitely looks a very lenient opening mark
Morning guys and girls a veritable feast of horse racing today with no less than seven meetings, plenty to pick from and not short on quality my selections: Haydock 2.00 Beyond Conceit 5/1 ran a decent race FTO in Handicap Company and despite Mr Koukash having an entry here today Jamie Spencer opts for Beyond Conceit and i will edge my bets with him. 2.30 Gabrial 4/1 but for shifting off a straight line in conditions that were far from ideal for him he would have won LTO, today he gets ground that he should appreciate much more and looks to be in with a big shout here. 3.00 I do think that Sole Power 4/1 will take all of the beating; however, if back to her best Best Terms 16/1 looks a very nice EW prospect, especially now she is dropped back to her best distance. York 2.05 Get A Buzz 8/1 just failed to stay the distance LTO when finishing a 2 3/4 L 2nd to Persian Peril over 1m 5f, whilst most of his best form has been on decent ground with a little bit of cut, he does have a decent performance under his belt in Handicap Company over todays distance on Good to Firm and is dropped back to 12f which should see him go close. 2.35 Regal Parade 8/1 looked to be close to getting back to winning ways LTO in a conditions race, and is on a cracking mark which is 10lb better off than his win in Group 1 Company and his price is far to big for a horse that has won and been placed many times in Group Company and was a C&D winner when he last ran at this level off a similar mark. 4.15 Art Mistress 14/1 EW an interesting 6f maiden stakes where Tim Easterby has no less than 3 runners, any market move should be significant and the stan out choice for me is Art Mistress who is the selection the regular stable jockey. Goodwood 2.15 Grandeur 100/30 didnt appear to enjoy the soft going LTO and is back on his preffered going today, only negative is the extra 2 furlong and his ability to get the distance, however, the manner in which he won at Brighton going away over 7f suggests he should go close. 3.20 Life And Soul 7/1 is one i have followed frustratingly over the last two years, he has all of the attributes to win in a Handicap Company off a mark this low and should be winning soon, because of that he is a tentative selection but i cannot ignore his claims. 5.00 Alfresco 6/1 DH in this race last year and is 2lb better off this year and should go close, one that attracts me at a bigger price is the top weight Victorian Bounty 16/1 EW, i just think the booking of young Twiston Davies for a flat race is significant claiming 7lb he has a decent strike record on the flat and recently rode a winner for Richard Hannon and is worth a small EW bet. Chester 4.00 High Standing 20/1 (EW) another former Group horse that i smore than capable of winning a race of this quality; however; he hasnt really done much since leaving the William Haggas stable, but is down in Grade today and on ground that he will appreciate is a nice EW betting prospect for me. Curragh 2.40 Hitchens 3/1 back to reclaim his title from last year, English raiders have a great record in this race, im normally loyal to Jimmy Styles 10/1, however, im not sure he is Group Class but i splenty good enough to run into a place and will get a little bit of EW money from me. 3.15 Trumpet Major 9/2 plenty of quality on show here, howeverm i just think the conditions underfoot will be enough to see Trumpet Major win this. Good luck to everyone today, bets placed im off out to take in some UVs now
Bloody hot here (30). In the town it was 24 at 8.00 this morning (7.00GMT). Our hay is ready to cut, looks fantastic. Pity I can't get down to the beach though.
