Well its rained, sleeted and hailed this morning but I'm still excited about going to Haydock today. Some interesting races with quiet a few head scratchers. I'm still keen on BDM but the love for Cue Card still makes me wonder what if Tizzard has him firing on all cylinders...?? My only reason to go against him is that he hasn't reached the heights of his top form for a while now in my eyes...

Back in a bit with the Haydock selections...<ok>

Hello, crew. Mr Henderson didn’t oblige yesterday for the regular readers but I think he’s a good chance today in the valuable 25.5 furlong handicap chase at Haydook Park (incidentally that’s what I say to my family physician, whose surname is Park, everytime I go to consult him – ‘Hey Doc Park’, I wave).

LESSON IN MILAN (3.35) has form figures of -23U35285 over fences and the more observant amongst you (at the last count that was 2) will notice he is still a maiden over them then. However, mixed in with those runs were a few very decent performances (including being beaten just 5 lengths in the ’17 Scottish National). This really should be the term he comes to the fore in staying handicap chases and he looks the type to run well in several high profile contests later in the year. Can start by winning this nice prize off 1 lb lower than that Ayr run.

    Good luck, troops.

Very much looking forward to seeing The Worlds End today. At this early stage of the season he would be my idea of value in the Stayers Hurdle market at a general 10/1. He showed last season that he goes on any ground and I think he could be a lot better than his current mark of 149. If he gets the job done in style today I can see him pushing for favoritism in the Stayers Hurdle market.

I'd be interested to hear Stick's (or indeed anyone else's) verdict on the Ascot bumper this afternoon. I see that Sue Gardner's Teatime on Mars has attracted sustained support through the day, while I had been drawn to the Henderson newcomer Wallace Spirit.

How do you rate the chances of Top Notch at Ascot today? I have no insight into Mr Henderson's "methods", but this looks like a case of 'give him a run out over hurdles at Aintree, and now he's ready to start his season proper'.

Of course, the slippery dipso has another runner in the race, but you can't blame him for having more than one owner. So is the favourite "off" at Royal Berkshire today, do you reckon?

Yep. Next stop King George? I guess not if Bristol De Mai wins well today - same owners. I'd love to see Top Notch in the King George though.

Certainly more prolific, although his JLT run was a cracker (and many will try and tell you Yorkhill could win any race from the Champion Hurdle to the Gold Cup).

Between 10s and 12s for the King George - if it is good-soft I'd give him a real chance.

    1-10 Min anyone?
