Good morning, Swannie. The “bit of fun” was directed at Oddy, in that I didn’t mean to offend him by joking he was “off his totty.” Yes, my comments were indeed deadly serious! However, I must sympathise with you- never having been north of Barnet to see the real England! Never mind, we all have crosses to bear! Have you had any bets at Goodwood or Galway this week- or on the Steward’s Cup today? The Steward’s Cup evokes bitter memories for me. My first bet on the race was a shilling each way on Bullrush, ridden by Aussie Neville Sellwood, at 40/1 in 1962. It led all the way until the last few strides but collared close home by the favourite, Victorina, ridden by my favourite jockey, Scobie Breasley. Ugh!
Don't know how I got onto the 25th June thread, think I'm going bonkers! Actually, am enjoying the banter between you Oddy, Bustino, et al. There's a lot of good serious and knowledgeable content in these conversations though. Fancy Regional in the Stewards' Cup, but this selection, being from me, has probably 'stopped' him good and proper!
Well, Regional was left with far too much to do, but finished like a train for third. Darn good effort. Great run by the winner to win the race again.
