Galileo Rock has been a horse I have struggled to forget after his taking debut win when unfancied last year. He has bags of stamina but believe it or not, David Wachman has been waiting for good ground. He was done for a bit of toe over 10f at Sandown but he would have won comfortable over a mile and a half that day, and with Battle Of Marengo one of the more prominent in the market, on a line through Sugar Boy Galileo Rock is well overpriced at 33/1 compared to 7/1 for BOM. I have also waited for this horse to go left handed again- there was something about the way he took off once he had turned left at LEopardstown that day, and when he hits top gear he looks fantastic. If they can get him into the raceand look to hit top speed turning round Tattenham corner, I can see him galloping away down the straight in an upset. At the same time, I can see him flying home behind 8 horses. He needs to be ridden aggressively. Chopin Something about this horse that looks menacing. He has beaten the German Guineas runner up by ten lengths on a trip that wasn't really in his favour- so I think he has the tactical speed to go with the pedigree stamina. The Germans don't send horses to the Derby- I just wonder if they have cottoned on to the fact this might be a well above average horse for their standard and the new owner has plunged £75,000 straight on him to enter this. German racing might be on the upgrade. We keep looking for New Approaches and Galileos- and rightly so- but sometimes the less flashier pedigrees produce just that one superstar. Maybe this is the one. He looks fantastically well balanced also. Interesting.
There's a Mastercraftsman filly out on debut in Doncasters 2.35! Wonder if she will be forward like her sire.
Be a little careful about Riverboat Spring chaps in future. He looked eye catching but they went very fast up front. Even the winner died a bit at the end. He was running past completely knackered horses.
Sheikh Mo and his massive entourage just arrived...all limping respectfully behind the despot and the youngest of his multiple wives. Wonder does SM know it was 100 years ago that Emily Davidson died in the pursuit of equality and the female vote. Doubt it,females can't vote in his kingdom...in fact nobody can..!!
Lovely run from Tinga there but that really was taking the p*** finishing a fast finishing second under barely hands and heels...schooling in public!!..off I go again... Why I avoid such heats.
St Nicholas Abbey- a real Group 1 horse over middle distance. Hasn't he been wonderful since the disappointing 3 year old season?
He's relatively lightly raced having had only 20 runs prior to today..Dawn Approach lines up for the 8th time today for example.
Matrooh should take all the beating in the 3.10 Donny and is 5/2 currently ill be having some of that
They werent considering Chopin to be a derby horse though and its only been since the wealthy arab has become involved that he suddenly is considered as 'Derby material'. I dont think this horse will do the business at all though and wont be good enough...
