Connections were not happy with the ride he was given. Instructions were to be handy but having broken well she allowed to get too far back. He stayed on really well from too far out the back. That is two runs in succession when he has had no chance from a bad ride. I believe they will have someone decent in the plate next time which will most likely be at Ayr on June 22nd. Given a decent chance he is definitely a winner in waiting. Note for Barney; Sorry I dont have a picture and am not on first name terms with his groom but it certainly falls into the category of "enough notice".
Thanks for cheering me up, Stick - I'd rather assumed that I'd simply picked another doughnut. That said, you do worry about horses that are (or appear to be) repeatedly the victims of inept rides. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and Grandee might be just a dog. Either way, I won't be backing him at Ayr: the overrounds there qualify as Crimes Against Humanity and I think that Scottish course bookmakers should be tried at The Hague. Fwiw, the view in the Palace pub on Saturday night was that Spurs had contrived to drag Liverpool down to their own mundane/tedious level. Just saying.
