Funny sort of race Dartmouth ran there. Didn't seem to travel, or was a bit outpaced, but stayed on a little at the end. Middle leg of a trixie in which the first leg had won. I think we all know the script of the last leg (Dubka, 5.00).

Well done Brando, deserved a big race win, best horse in the race and was drawn 8 ( last 4 years stall 8, 19, 19, 8 in that order have won ) Absolutely so always flatters to deceive
Evening, all. Like Chaninbar, I looked long and hard at Johnny Barnes today, and for much the same reasons (why is Johnny G running this G3-class horse over the wrong trip, when his style of racing shrieks out that he'll give away too much early ground to pick up good sprint handicappers?). It seems unlikely that he's really hoping to get him reassessed at (say) below 100 - he was only beaten a bit over four lengths today, running on, off 105 - but equally he doesn't seem to be listed/group class any longer. My guess is that it was a desperation tactic just to see what happened and - because of temperament or otherwise - it now takes him so long to get into gear that I think he might be expensive to follow. That said, it's about his time of year (won a G3 in late August last year, and won in mid-October as a 2yo), so he could just be worth a look over 7f on softish ground in the coming weeks: but, if it's in a race he can win, he'll probably be a silly price, so I still think best left alone. FAO Harbottle: I suspect the same is true of Dartmouth. When he was asked to put it in today, it looked to me as if he sulked momentarily and lost his place. I'd say talented but dodgy, and take him off the list. Trivia: without googling, does anyone know the historical connection between Johnny Barnes and Noel Meade's Curley Bill ?
Ps - still drinking as you can see from previous post - top job Sir Barney and thank you for the infor !!!
Just back home from watching the Exeter Chiefs and a night on the town, backed this double today, cheers SBC fantastic, awesome.
