What a dire affair this first semi final is.

Can't believe the commentary team on ITV making excuses for the Warburton spear tackle..excellent decision by the worst referee in the world..normally!!...aside from Kaplan and Owens of course.

Morning Dan, any contact to your fat northern jockey friends today? I was wondering how Jeu De Roseau is expected to go today? Seems to be in the form of his life and it's a long way to go if they don't fancy his chances.

Morning all, 2 placepots as per usual and a couple of singles...

    Ascot:
    Leg 1: Opinion Poll (5)
    Leg 2: Genki (3) / Society Rock (9) / Night Carnation (14)
    Leg 3: Crystal Capella (4) / Vita Nova (8)
    Leg 4: Frankel (7)
    Leg 5: Midday (8) / Nathaniel (12)
    Leg 6: Noble Citizen (7) / Kiwi Bay (15) / Primaeval (20) / Valencha (25)
    72 @ 20p
    £14.40

    Cheltenham:
    Leg 1: Catcherinscratcher (8)
    Leg 2: Buck Mulligan (8) / Life Of A Luso (10)
    Leg 3: Palawi (4) / One for Joules (6)
    Leg 4: Chicago Grey (2) / Ethiopia (9)
    Leg 5: Ixora (4) / Mohanad (5) / Ikorodu Road (6)
    Leg 6: Lancetto (3) / House Rules (4)
    48 @ 30p
    £14.40

    Singles Bets:

    Dubawi Gold (ew) 3.35 Ascot
Frankel will win the race, but this horse is excellent value to finish in the places. It's the dead eight which is perfect for each way punters, and this is a horse who travels well, and has been doing fine in high profile Group races. Good EW bet.
    50/1 Victor Chandler

    Midday (ew) 4.10 Ascot (NAP)
She's far too big a price for such a consistent filly. She runs her heart out, and although she may be up against it today, she should be good enough to be at least in the first trio.
    15/2 William Hill

    Good Luck everybody!

Dunno Hardy,he upended his man and drove him into the turf...The meat heads in the ITV studio seem to more concerned about the timimg of the red ruining the game rather than the nature of the tackle...By their logic, because it's a WC semi final, there is an amnesty on all bad tackles until the second half.

I see your point though...you could argue the red either way.

Morning all on the way to ascot as I type, suited and booted.

Was going to go for opinion poll in the 1st but have been persuaded against it and I may well go for F&G, I am the. Having 2 decent bets on Moonlight Cloud and Vita Nova treble with frankel then hitting Midday e/w

In the last think directorship can go well.

    Bring it on!

The only thing I find a bit disappointing is that there isn't a big handicap for us to get our teeth into. Yes there is a nice pot for the Apprentices to scrap over, but we could at least have split the 2 group 1's with a big Champions Day handicap over a 1m

Have a great day Cats <ok>

I've read RV's excellent write-up on F&G but I still can't bring myself to back him - I think something is not right with the horse. He looked imperious at Ascot but his last run was absolutely shocking in a race which he should really have won easily on the form book. I'm going with John Dunlop's Times Up who won ridiculously well last time and the 2 miles looks made for him.
