I see what you’re getting at, but also, we’re actually still selling out a lot and we’ve sold previous exchange tickets, so it’s a bit swings and roundabouts It’s also less soul destroying for ‘guests’ to see us lose on a one off basis, rather than us having to suffer the constant disappointment
Wasn't inferring anything just genuinely curious. The club will love it anyway as means they can make extra money. They won't care if it's away fans who buy them.
Away fans in The Chapel? They'll be telling their mates to hold their Horlicks while they brandish their walking sticks
Yeah this is one game that I know my ticket on the exchange is probably going to a Bompey fan. So easy for them to get membership/have a purchase history and therefore masquerade as a Saints fan. The fact is they will give themselves away by being happy when they walk into the ground.
I thought I knew, turns out I knew SFA Surely club only make money if they buy something when they're there ... and I know what your saying but we want the club to have more money don't we, just not ours
They'll get a friendly welcome, which is great as its the best wind-up to their South Coast Derby schtick
There has been an increasing amount of away fans in the home end as the season has gone on. Presumably coinciding with people putting their tickets up for resale. Obviously it's going to be more for the bigger clubs, but I guess there could be a lot with Bournemouth despite their lack of fans, due to proximity and that they'll be rubbing their hands together expecting to absolutely destroy us. Which in all likelihood, they will. Not one for the faint hearted this.
Nah cos you'll get 1/19th of your season ticket price back but they'll sell it again for full match day price. Plus the fact your 1/19th can only be spent with the club so they effectively make more than 100% on it. Of course it actually has to sell.
Indeed not. I'll try and muster some optimism, a bit of Dutch courage in my local pre match may help along with a bottle of this in the freezer.
There always seems to be a lot of hype about away fans in the home end etc. but never any room for neutral supporters who have a right to attend and perhaps become hooked one way or another?
Due to Bompey fans cheering when it was announced that the last train to Southampton had been cancelled engineering works have been arranged in the Christchurch area this weekend. Obviously it will affect Saints fans travelling by train from that area too but hopefully they won't mind too much and taking one for the team.
Just in case anyone was having a rare moment of optimism From the BBC "Meanwhile, the Cherries have won possession in the final third more often than any other Premier League side this season (146), while Saints have lost the ball more often in their defensive third than any other team (154)."
