When has a horse being bumped for a run every caused anything? I cant think of a case since ive been watching racing. Ive seen a load of carnage with horses falling from running into the one in front though.
so should they have been thrown out? they had to barge there way to a clear run, you can only do it when you have the horse
Beckett, when interviewed, focused on contact inside the last furlong and then announced his decision to appeal. Was he not aware of the initial bump,or did he,like most on here, erroneously think that didn't matter? Interesting to see if they do appeal in the cold light of day or will they be as sporting as the Wylies, who would surely have been awarded the CGC,and resist in the interest of sportsmanship?
If they appeal on the grounds of lack of consistency on the stewards part, surely they have a very strong case?
You might as well show a clip of frog racing from Guatemala as it has about as much relevence to the St Leger today and the Doncaster Stewards implementing the de facto English rules of racing.
No comment other than to say thanks for posting that 2009 video. Made my afternoon "perfection in equine form - the horse of a lifetime"
This is cut and dried Eddie..AA even got a suspension which won't help any appeal. BB lost by a lesser margin than the interference cost him and made up ground from the point of the initaial contact, and again from the second clout. Fairly simple to my mind and actually an easy one for the stewards when the deficit is inches. But it is all about opinions and interpretations.
Oh Well , time to move on, B365 paid first past the post so I'm happy. Also very happy with the forum today, I took emotionless and secret number in a good sized patent and now await Golden Horn who I took at 7/4 earlier. Is it possible that it will be beaten? I'm certainly not cashing out!!!!!!!!
First past the post wins so Golden Horn wins your money. Couldn't care less about a stewards enquiry. I've got my money.
Best horse won this time..no doubt! Had the run of the race and great ride by Frankie. Big rule 4 unfortunately and ****ty tote pay odds for Cyc's compo!
And there you have it.... This is why the rules of Racing in UK and Ireland need changing. Free Eagle could easily have been judged to have been likely to win and had all chance lost due to interference. Yet Free Eagle will gain nothing and Golden Hawn will keep the race. Yet at Doncaster it is entirely disputable if the second would have won and the winner lost the race. Sadly and I may be mistaken but Free Eagle looked to finish a little sore on his left shoulder as did not seem to be striding out as well.
Whats gary obrien talking about, Golden Horn might have just been in front? He was clearly the best part of a length up and Free Eagle was going nowhere.
No chance of this being chucked out although they threw out one of DW's in the Matron a couple of years for no reason and gave it to one of Cecils. Strange reaction from the colt..never showed behaviour like that before.
