Just availed of William Hills 7/2 on Minding. That's just insane value, even in this stellar field I wouldn't want to be laying 5/2. Think it's possible assuming Ryan Moore doesn't make another howler on her, that the Arc will have a justifiably short priced fav come 7.00 having won the best Flat race of the year. On the point of the Arc, surely those that rate Postponed's chances very highly for it will be backing Highland Reel this evening?
Some day of sport all round between the Derbys in Manchester and Glasgow as well as the boxing this evening.
Buzzing for the boxing later. Hope Kell has prepared himself to come through some heavy shots and really take it to Golovkin. Hope it's a cracker.
She looks real value I agree- in fact I am almost suspicious that she is such a price!! Only doubt is the long season but AOB reckons she really takes her racing well. Harzand to me looks to really want a mile and a half (in fact I think he'd have pissed the Leger today if they wanted to go up in trip with him) so this is a real tough one over 10f at Leopardstown. If he does pull it out the fire though he would be a deserved favourite heading to Chantilly. Hawkbill has no excuses today now that the ground is yielding so we will find out where he fits into this picture, whilst we will also know where the French stand with their Derby winner and last years Arc runner up heading their two. Massive kudos getting these all in one race- best of the season by a distance.
Right, lets forget about that muck racing over in England. It's all about the Irish Champions Weekend. The first, a maiden 7 furlongs, Aneen is a half sister to Awtaad who won impressively on debut so hopefully this one does the same. 6/1 Douglas MacArthur should win this. No bet for me. The Tony Martin horses look up to winning this. But I'll go with the Karl Burke raider Intense Tango with a use claimer aboard. She's been in good form. The draw isn't ideal but if she gets out well she should take some catching. 8/1 I can't have US Army Ranger. Stellar Mass could be overpriced. He beat Bondi Beach last time. Zhukova hasn't run since May and may need the run. 15/2 Persuasive looks the better bet in the Matron at the prices. She quickened impressively last time and at the Sandrington. 3/1 I took 12/1 on Tribal Beat after they supplemented him on Thursday. Awtaad and Hit it a bomb look to be on revival missions. Minding at 7/2. First time against the boys and they couldn't have found a thougher one but she is class. Harzand with a pacemaker is interesting but I think he'll struggle with the trip. Found needs not to finish second. Hawkbill looks overpriced back on yielding ground. I think Almanzor needs to step up on the Prix Du Jockey Club but he should be bang there. New Bay if running to his Arc form should be bang there. Don't really fancy My Dream Boat but he is a Group 1 winner this year. I can't really see Sir Iaasc Newton getting involved but they supplemented him so who knows. It looks a cracker.
French trainer J-C Rouget has a fair chance of a double at Leopardstown today, with Qemah in the Matron Stakes (5.35) and Almanzor in Irish Champion Stakes (6.45). Qemah won Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot (her last two wins were in Group 1's), whilst Almanzor won Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly (not so impressive in his next race at Deauville) and has a good chance of winning.
Zhukova - Leopardstown 5.05. has been held back for a autumn campaign and with this race in mind for a while. She's should take care of these with US Army Ranger playing 2nd fiddle. Took a bigger price than the current 2/1 but I expect a deluge of drunk and desperate money for the O'Brien fave late on so she should still go off a decent price come post time. Qemah 7/4 - Leopardstown 5.35 she appears the class act in here and barring Jet Setting doesn't feel in the mood today she should win. Persuasive has done nothing wrong and will likely give her most to think about. Minding 10/3 - Leopardstown 6.45 outstanding filly who's claims are there for all to see, 10/3 is fair enough and hopefully she can get a nice spin around and win. Looks an exceptional race. Maths Prize 7/2 - Doncaster 4.20 - has won snug enough his 2 recent starts and is still improving all the time. Race has cut up a bit which aids the cause and I expect him to oblige today again for the Charlton/Queen combo.
Afternoon boys and girls;cracking day of sport ahead!Going to throw three darts today with the hope at least one will stick! Donny 3.45-I'm taking Muntahaa to land the spoils for a trainer who has an excellant record in this race.Gosden sounded pretty upbeat in today's racing post and Muntahaa should get the trip no problem.Obviously Idaho is the one to beat but might find the extra two furlongs a tough ask. 3.30-Key to my Heart win 7/2 5.35-Qemah-Class filly;just take a look at her form this season,7/4 is still a decent price!
The stupidity of the people supposedly running British racing is brought into focus today. They have allowed the Irish to build a Champions' Weekend fixture that clashes with the St Leger Festival; and how do they respond? Introduce crazy new rules that chase away the Doncaster meeting's main sponsor.
Channel 4 showed Leger Legends race with Joseph O'Brien riding the winner - how the f**k is he a "legend"?! He shouldn't have "qualified", far more suitable to call Tony McCoy a legend"! It's like if Harry Styles was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Grammys even though he's only 22, ridiculous!
Captain colby in the next at donny badly drawn last time and was tipped by the trainer, also a bit ew in stickwise selection. Cheers
