The Liquidator is a great price today at 5/2 imo. I have a feeling that the dismantling of sea lord last time may prove to be better form than it first looked.

Upazo has beaten nothing in Ireland and got beaten by some trees last year.

I can see the liquidator winning this quite comfortably as I think he could be a class above these.

STD takes the Big Bucks ride? Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Jacob.

I have The Liquidator on my I-pod also - but without the scratchy vinyl sounds!

I have to agree with Brough re his chances, and have backed him at 5-2, the disappointment for me though is that I wanted to back Royal Boy on his next run, but at 2m? No thanks.

Hendo knows his horses far better than I do, but this seems just daft!

EDIT: Steve - just spotted that you went for Royal Boy in the Cyc Comp - what's your take on the distance drop for this fellow?

Quite. As stable jockey he should get first dibs, or am I missing something? I saw a statement from Nicholls the other day saying it might not be Jacob as "they want someone who can commit to ride him in every race, but the yard has Celestial Halo to consider too"

All seems very dodgy to me and if I were Darryl Jacob I'd be feeling a bit miffed.

I do wonder if Big Bucks will be the same horse without Ruby on his back? Walsh knows the horse so well, knows when he needs to get after him and when he can just lob along. I'm pretty sure he will know how to beat Big Buck's as well and somehow I can see in my mind's eye Ruby Walsh on Annie Power out-manoeuvering STD on Big Buck's up that Cheltenham hill in March.

I think what is safe to assume is that Ruby was offered the ride and turned it down as it was a badly kept secret that Andy Stewart wanted to keep Ruby on board and for very good reason. This leads on to the point how good does Ruby think ANNIE POWER is... I remember having a discussion with you Oddy about her prospects for the season before she ran and there can be little doubt now that she's a Championship horse. Big style. Whether that's Champion or World Hurdle it looks very much the later now.

Can Big Bucks give her 7lbs and a beating? Before this news this morning I'd have said it's possible, in the expectation Big Bucks is what he was. However the parameters have now changed considerably. It is now can Big Bucks give Annie Power, Ruby and 7lbs a beating... That looks an exceptionally big task and I'd now very, very much be in the camp of the mare.

In addition to the above selection, Kaylif Aramis keeps grabbing my attention in the Kempton 2.40pm. So 10/1 GP E/W . Bet placed.

    Good luck everyone today.

I can't forgive that last run Captain - I thought he was a shoo in that day, albeit in a competitive race, but he never showed up. He will no doubt hose up today, but that's the chance I'll have to take. Boyfromnowhere for me <ok>

Oddy, it sure is a big kick in the teeth for Jacob. Nicholls seems a bit "in and out" where his jockeys are concerned- apart from Ruby, that is.
A couple of years ago, Noel Fehily was supposed to be his main 'second jockey'- only to be brushed aside when he came back from injury.
In fairness, Jacob seems to be riding quite well- apart from his weakness in a driving finish. Having said that, I really like Twiston-Davies.
As regards Big Bucks and Annie Power, I don't see it that way at all.
Personally, I think Mullins would be crazy not to go for the Champion Hurdle with Annie. After the 5lbs sex allowance, she's only a pound or two behind Hurricane Fly now- and still improving.
And, provided she's with them at the last, she'll relish that final hill- many of them won't!
Another way to look at it is a simple logic..She has a better chance of beating the C.Hurdle runners than the best staying hurdler in history.
Also, there's no way she'll go for the Mares' Hurdle....Mullins wants that piece of history for Quevega only!
Sure, Ruby would like her to go for The World Hurdle (for obvious reasons) but, if I owned her, I wouldn't think twice about it- especially at her age. If not good enough, she'll have many more Mares/World Hurdles in the future.

ODDDY, been to the yard this morning and there is a real buzz about today. SPIRIT OF SHANKLY couldn't be any better and they are going there thinking that he can win whilst acknowledging that its a very hot event.
Listening to the lads at the yard the one to lump on today is SUPERIOR FIRE in the Warwick bumper. They will be pretty disappointed if he doesn't win!

Worrying to see MOG lumping on my horses...first THE NEW ONE and now THE LIQUIDATOR LOL. Good luck Boris I hope you are collecting big time later!
