My family phoned to thank me for Blaklion 80/1 6 places

Blaklion last to jump the first and almost brought down. That would have been sick. Good ride by Harry to bring him through gradually. So pleased for Rachel; brought a tear to my eye that did. But I was jumping up and down in front of the TV cheering Blaklion into a place. That was as good as a winner for me, having outlined his chance a while back

Maybe the Grand should be dropped from the title of the race name now, just go with the English National, much the same as there is a Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Midland, Sussex, Ulster, Leinster. Munster and Connacht National. It's no difference barring the 40 runner field now. Romance really is dead.

Well done Ron, ask your bookmaker nicely if they are paying out for first British runner home!

I see that it has just been announced that the English Football League have revealed that games kicking off at 3pm next Saturday will be moved to avoid clashing with King Philip's funeral. What are the chances of the big meetings at Ayr and Newbury, next Saturday, being either called off or moved to a much later time???

To answer my own question I see its being reported, and I quote, that, 'The British Horseracing Authority will hold discussions regarding its own plans for fixtures on Saturday 17 April'.

What a joy to see such an account on the Daily Thread once more. I hope afterwards you took a socially distanced taxi ride and held up your score out of 10 re the said French Onion soup. I'm guessing a mark of 8.

Changing the subject. Just been watching a cat lover that teaches our feline friends to swim and measures their progress by counting their strokes. But she found it impossible to teach the French cats as every time she got to trois the cat sank

Pointless, as mentioned. I am not the slightest bit interested in what you have had for lunch, whether the carrots are done to your satisfaction, or your bucket of water. As I am sure no one is remotely interested in what I might scoff for lunch.

Stick to tales of N.Henderson, a trainer of racehorses, and connoisseur of 'before lunch' G&Ts. That is what you are good at.

Don't put yourself down. I'm sure the majority on here would be more than interested in what you had for lunch. I was those being very tongue in cheek in what I said and don't think I've mentioned lunch time nibbles for several years in fact.

The reality is though. as has been stated above, that this thread should be open to all comments (provided it is kept pleasant, of course) in my opinion. And in all seriousness if it was kept to racing comments only then these days the Daily Thread would attract no more than half a dozen comments a day.

My old man has had fish for breakfast with a poached egg :emoticon-0119-puke: - I've gone with porridge and banana with a squirt of honey over the top.

I am the 'incident', SBC, thought my post would bring on a batch of menus, and it did! <laugh> My breakfast was the same as Saffs without the banana, and I always use Canadian Maple Syrup, the best!
